Toast Titanium comes with an MPEG-1 encoder. It encodes for VCD only, but it is really easy to use (just export from any QT compatible app).
ffmpegX will convert to almost anything from almost anything. It's not that hard to use and is cheaper than Toast.
It just doesn't seem likely to me. First off, the hard drive is tiny for HD (which has been noted). And second, there's no bluetooth. I think bluetooth would be essential for a remote control, and if it's designed to play video, they wouldn't have people buy a USB bluetooth adaptor. I suppose they could sell infrared receptors so that your regular remote works with it...
Still, it just doesn't seem likely at all. They would have released it with HDMI, not DVI.
I don't even know how intel stays in the retail processor business. For as long as I've been building PCs (4 years, I think), Athlons have been considerably cheaper.
Anybody vote for Lost In Translation? I really liked that movie.
Also, L'Auberge Espagnole (a french movie, forgive me if I've mispelled it) was excellent.
I'm hoping to see "elephant" this weekend. I've heard that's quite good.
If you've never heard of any of these, check out an independent movie theater.
The problem w/ the second movie (I liked it, but I mean the reason it wasn't as good as the first) is that it took all the awesome philosophical and epistemilogical questions that were subtley (sp?) presented in the first one, and put them into dialog that was very hard for some people to follow. Whle the first movie was cool because you could watch it over and notice new things, the second you had to watch over to make sure you caught all the unnecessarily wordy dialog.
I don't know how they could have represented the battle between determinism/causality and free will in a better way, but I feel it was quite lazy to do it by just having Morpheus and the Merovingian talk to each other about it.
Actually, I owned a Nomade Jukebox (6GB HDD). It's not erased from my memory. I'm not trying to be an apple zealot. It just seems to me that the iPod has had the greatest effect on the mp3 market. Many players that came out since it was released bear a striking resemblance to the iPod.
Maybe it was just the next logical step, but it's still cool, and Apple was the first one to do it, and they did it well.
Anybody who has an iPod knows how cool they are, and if you have one of those imitation players, you owe Apple for being the first to innovate. I love my pod.
Unless I'm mistaken, I read that Google uses a similar autoconfiguration for servers. They buy the server, plug it in, turn it on, and the rest is all automatic.
I'm pretty sure they use a Linux distro, but it'd be cool for big institutions if OS X could have this functionality.
true, but i don't think that it's a feature useful enough to have. I'd bet that less than 5% of console users have any form of surround sound, and I'm sure this figure would drop with a handheld.
It seems to me that they would realize that NOBODY is going to care about 7.1 surround sound in a handheld if they were really planning prudently. it'll just raise the cost, and i don't think anybody's going to buy it because it has an S/PDIF port
i hope so, but it doesn't seem so. Just look at the price hikes on the G5s versus the G4s, which were already fairly high-priced boxes. I think most of the cost may come from uncommon and new components like Serial ATA and PCI Extreme.
I'd love to see more of this. unfortunately, there's a demon called "Direct X" that haunts the games, keeping them away from the other platforms until they become so old that no one cares any more (NWN? Max Payne?)
Except who wants to wait for the trilogy boxset somes out when I've already used my original Matrix DVD many times?
Sure, it'd be nice if they included more stuff in the first version, but people know what they're getting into. Same w/ computers, cars, etc. You can buy it now, and have it now, or you can wait and have something better. (I realize it's evolution of technology vs. inclusion of extras, but to the consumer, it's the same thing.)
I really don't get this, so don't flame me. Why would AOL dump Mozilla? They just used Mozilla's work to update Netscape to 7.1, right? Are they finding problems with how mozilla and netscape interact or something?

God, it's a freakin' expression! I love my friends, my family, and life. I would not cry if my iPod broke, I would not have a funeral for it.
how the hell do you take more than 2 years to pay $300??

somebody else already did. it's more efficient not to have to look through all of them though.
exactly, so if i give a kid a computer with a broadband connection, am I to be held responsible for all the songs he pirates?
most clients allow you to block html, but this the first i've heard of blocking html only from people not in your address book.
ok, so i guess I'm out of luck, seeing as i don't use Linux.
what email client can do this?
would this mean new firmware for every router/DSL modem on the earth? honest question

Both Moto and IBM make them, i believe, with Moto supplying the designs.

thanks for the info. I also learned that AOL has agreed to use IE in the future, so that my have something to do with it.

They actually don't include vowels in Farsi, Arabic, and (sometimes) in hebrew.
