I dont want you on the road if your drunk, sleepy, or on legal OR illegal medication that adversely affects your thoughts or sight. Alcohol happens to be one type of drug that induces a specific distortion of thought and vision loss (and is one of the most popular due to legality). For that matter, I dont want you reading, eating, or doing other things while driving.
Frankly, you deserved it. Given you are in the USA, a Cop saw your erratic driving and had the forethought to pull you over on cause. And you evidently failed the sobriety test.
Oh well. I drink at home mainly (one drink out max per 2 hours, and I weigh 300 and am 6'5). Perhaps you ought to only do that too.
Well, what you said does have a point about what the citizens see corruption in the US government and those around us.
However, I remind myself about a story what my Spanish professor said about Mexico...
We were talking about the blue plate specials and came up was a description of the roads. If you had a 4 lane road (2 each direction) and public opinion wanted 6 lanes, they would remove the paint for the 4 lanes, and then apply paint for six lanes. They would not resize the road or any type of major work. Of course, "public opinion" was the people who paid the most to the local government.
Another thing I am reminded of is how Mexico encourages their citizens to break US laws by coming here and working. It is really interesting in that it's a felony in Mexico for: 1. to gain employment if one is not a citizen and 2. for an employer to hire a non-citizen. Quite the double standard.
The real question here is whether it is in the public interest to have a heavily fragmented market of incompatible cellular networking.
Yes, it is their equipment, but it would be illegal to use it on public airspace. Is it in our best interest to allow companies to sell back what was once a public commons?
Well according to my TI-86 calc, (if trillion = 10^12) 370 trillion mi is 62.94 LY. 904 is 153.78 LY

Yes, we know that more radiation causes increased mutation, and that high levels can kill. But I wonder if radiation is actually good in low to moderate levels in that we enhance evolution.
I'm reminded of a recent documentary about Chernobyl in which nature has reclaimed the whole area, even with "high levels" of radiation. If nature can thrive there (along with genomic data proving roughly 10 million years evolved), why cant we?
If anything, I'd be very interested in a few studies of low to mild continuous doses of radiation.

---Everyone feels the temptation to exaggerate their case when they feel they've been wronged and it is all to easy to jump to outraged conclusions about why some action was taken.
He may not have namesake for credibility, but he has plausibility to claim that he was banned for "inflaming moslems". Right now, it can be safely stated that it is "bad" to make fun of Islam. It just seems logical that an international search engine caters neutrally to as many people who use it?
---I remember, a week or two after september 11th, me and my father were riding our bikes down the road, and a minivan driver asks us for direction. He was dark skinned, and the first thing he said to us was "Please, I am not an Arab." Can you believe that? The area I live in is fairly culturally and racially diverse, and seems in no way discriminatory, yet this man thought he had to say he was not of a certain race to talk to us safely.
A follower of Christ (As most Christians are not) would help regardless of skin color. Thats whats in the golden rule. And the Golden Rule is codified in other non-violent religions.
---Arabs and Islam have been demonized for ages, and more so now in this "post 9/11 world" than ever, it would seem. Now, think about those political cartoons that Islam was so terribly intolerant of. They showed a religious figure as a terrorist, using his "towel" to hold a bomb. This wasn't just against the religion, this was against a whole group of people, painting a whole religion with one brush. Would a Christian be happy to see a cartoon of Jesus dressed as a klansman? Or maybe Jesus stabbing an Arab child through the heart with a cross? Perhaps some, but the majority would see this as an insult and a totally unfair generalization.
I want you to do something: Go find the bulletin boards that are meant for Arabic members, or go to Al Jazerra news site. Then go read the spewing hatred from these people over there. So, why cant I make fun of Mohammed? Or is this not gross enough? Yet, I dont feel like sending a pipe bomb to their mailing address... Why are they given a pass on violent childlike behavior when the rest of the world isnt?
----I doubt very much that Islam is somehow less tolerant of insults to it than any religion is. I can certainly say that Muslims in general are pretty fucking pissed at being called terrorists, and their religion being constantly demeaned. Of course, if they complain about it, the western world uses their offence as a mark of a religion intolerant of critique. It is a snowball effect that makes the Iraq War just that much easier for Americans to swallow.
Ok, so I wont call them terrorists. Now, how about women's rights? Ok, how about being exerted under Sharia law? I dont like that. Or, if you convert, you have a 'death sentence'. Nice, so much for try before you buy. Or do you agree with stonings of adulterers? Sorry, but breaking of vows isnt equal to murder in my opinion. What? Your kid stole something? Off with his hand! Do it again and he gets stoned. Oh, you're not Muslim? Then you get inferior treatment, second class citizen. Back of the bus.
Im sorry, but their idea of equality, penal code, and fairness are equal to the stone ages (or 100 years ago for womens voting rights here in the US). If they want every country to be under this rule, I WILL call them terrorists.
---Youtube blocking the video is a step in the wrong direction. They are pretending Muslims are children. The effect will just be more people believing it. And on the other side of the world, the hatred will just make Muslims think of Americans less highly in general.
They think fear can convert people. I will spit on the ashes of Mohammed's fat hairy mole before I will convert to that excrement of a religion. Yes, I have read the Koran, and no, I do not agree with it in most places.
---Well, I agree with you on the guns thing. I'm fully licenced to own weapons, but I hate the restrictions placed on us.
At least to me, guns have been in my life. I know how to use pistols, rifles and shotguns, along with cleaning them. To not acknowledge that as a sovereign right of the people would lead back down to where we (the US) was before the revolutionary war: unrepresented taxation, evil and sadistic punishments, no penal rights, national power over the states'.
I see guns as the final reset switch on a bad government.
---On the other hand, I absolutely disagree with you about the US government being corrupt. You have THE most honest government on the earth today.
Im sure you dont keep up on our sports stuff, but recently, many counties (US - State - County - Township is the relationship of 'parts' here) are being forced to pay for a stadium here in Indianapolis, IN. This tax is going to be added upon most sales as 1% extra. Where is representation?
Here in Indiana last year, our Governor ( Governor is to State as President is to Nation) sold off a 200+ mile stretch of road to a business in Spain/Australia. I have no quarrels in selling property, but public land should stay public. This governor is selling our own road rights from under us. BTW, this "deal" lasts for 75 years. This is our land, yet we have no representation.
Across our nation, we have the highest incarceration rates in the world. Our percent felon rate even exceeds what Russia has. In our country, when you are/have been a felon, you do not qualify to vote for the rest of your life. Add this to the ever-creeping list of felonies and we have untold millions of people who are disenfranchised.
From living here, we see many evils and corrupt behaviors. Did you know that here, a corporation can take your land if 1: they like it a lot 2: get approval from the local planning board 3: declare your house "uninhabitable" ? And it was Merck who did this despicable behavior... and they won too.
And remember, who is it who unbalances governments? Yes, our leader. (spit) Afghanistan was at least legitimated, but Iraq was not by any means. A puppet dictator who kills his own is not a US national security risk. But now, we are the world's targets.
---I'm sure that this sounds pretty sad to you, but it's the unfortunate truth. I wish our government was as reasonable as yours.
That'd be mighty interesting.. Wanna trade countries when Hillary Clinton gets in?
What I find interesting, Doc Ruby, is when a kid is at school and does a crime.
Does the school not hold guardianship when he/she is there? From what I have gathered (at least in Indiana), it does.
Why doesnt the school get in trouble: eg the principal, teachers, or guidance councel? Strange it only applies to the parents, not the guardians they spend at 8+ hours mandated a day...

About the Gisburne YouTube stuff : http://gisburne.com/
:-(
He just quotes the Skeptics Annotated Koran. Google Doesnt like that.
---How come so many people in this thread think I said exactly the opposite?
Im sorry, but it's slashdot. Critical thinking is not required. Only being critical is.
I like Canada, except for that "no guns" thing. I also like Australia, except for that "no guns" thing. Why?
If I live in a possibly corrupt government, I want to be able to defend myself against my government. Look at the US for my example...
