Releases are still on track. bugs are being fixed. packages are being maintained. I just switched to Gentoo a couple months ago at home, on my notebook, and at work. All is well from the end user perspective.:)
Its safer to fly than it is to drive, but if the plane crashes your almost certainly going to die. Having google handle your mail and address books is certainly safer than storing them on your personal computer (most windows users I know reload their system almost every year), but when google loses your information-- your not getting it back.
i've been using my ipod nano in amarok for months now. works perfectly. just like itunes... and i believe amarok is a much more capable music playerto begin with.
no.. it means if a chip costs $100 now, it'll cost as little as $40 after the price drop. In this case you are paying 250% of the new price, or 150% more.
I'm sure your not running xgl on a pentium 90MHz. XGL requires 3D acceleration and I can't think of any decent graphics card you could have paried up with that processor and motherboard.
Wasn't it Intel that "taught" us that performance per clock cycle isn't important? This entire benchmark is a a little skewed since most people will not be running the core duo *overclocked*. So in reality, the Athlon FX-60 is still king of this benchmark. Don't get me wrong, I believe the core duo is a wonderful processor and I'll be sure to have it in my next notebook.
i'm at work right now... I just ssh'd into my box at home and started ktorrent in the background.:) Of course, it helps that we use linux here at work.
i posted a link to the torrent in hopes more people would start downloading it and speed up my download, but they (Zonk!!!) took it out of my story summary.:(
correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe the internet was being used in wargames. I believe they were dedicated systems that could bedialed into, like BBSs.
what all is involved in recycling a computer? I know there is quite a bit of lead on the circuit boards that needs to be handled properly, but what exactly do they do with it?
I believe it has more to do with Dells ailing reputation than it does not sticking to intel. The fact is the *quality* that was once associated with Dell isn't really there, and hasn't been for a long time, and consumers are wising up to this. Plus, there is some good competition out there for dell in the low end computer market. emachines, for example.
the company i work for bought one of these.. its sitting upstairs gathering dust. The fact is, unless your a larger company indexing all the documents you have on your local intranet isn't necessary, not to mention most smaller companies keep companty documents located in smb shares or on file servers and not on the intranet accessible via http, which, afaik, is a requirement for the google box to index the files.
facebook offers advertisers a new group of students to advertise to every 4 or so years. Advertisers looking to target students at certain schools or college students in general will find facebook far more appealing than myspace.
exactly. so, while the speed of light through a vacuum, or even air is considerably faster, it doesn't effect the speed of the signal propagating through the circuit.
it propagates faster than electricity. The individual electrons get hung up on imperfections in the conductor they travel along making them travel considerably slower than the speed of light. Does that matter in today integrated circuits? I'm pretty sure it isn't a problem.;)
something's wrong when scanning for viruses becomes such a common task that computers must be built with enough power to scan for viruses and do what you bought them for at the same time. sheesh.
the majority of mac buyers are booting into windows xp/vista because the majority of people use it, apple will have killed a wonderful OS and regulated their systems to nothing more than exotic pc hardware, and we all know how well high end windows notebooks sell. not well. apple has something unique, osx, why encourage people in any way to defoul their mac like that?

Is it possible to tarnish this company's image any further?

what do you think the new xeons are based on? and what do you think they put in the new imac?

Your "crackpot theory" is something I came up with as well one night. One of those "moments of clarity". interesting..

well koffice was the first product to announce support for odf and the second to implement it, this is a given.

I had included more information when I submitted the story... but it got summarized to... "read the version notes".
Here's the torrent for all 5 CDs (no DVD release, yet).
This release includes xgl support for KDE and gnome as well as several other nifty features!

I'm sure working at microsoft is a great career, running microsoft software is a different story.

...and what do you have to say about the microsoft FUD against linux?
