"even more to the point"? Your "close examination" of my points was not even close to scientific. Try again with other test subjects, sitting 12 feet away, watching a moving sequence. Now try a dozen other combinations, and see how superior it really is. If you don't tell them there's a difference, I'm betting noone will notice or care on a 15" screen.
Not entirely true. If you have an incredibly large screen it will be very easily noticable, but most people will still have relatively small TVs where the difference is extremely subtle, even if the resolution is much higher. I'm not saying there's no difference, or that there's no market for it, but since the difference is so subtle for most people, it will be a luxury item that not many will buy for a long time. Just think about how long VHS remained the standard for home movies, even though beta was available with much higher quality. It's also interesting that very few people have TVs that can show the full quality of DVD as it is.
But most people won't be so easily converted. DVD is easily a justifiable upgrade to most, seeing how rapdily VHS degrades. HDDVD isn't. Think about this for example, European DVDs don't even have support for progressive scan yet, and there are extremely few complaints on that.
We won't see this becoming big within a few years, it will take longer than that.
Oh yeah, I'm all for buying Silent Hill or Project ZERO (Fatal Frame) for some poor kid with a heart condition.
To be honest, I won't help american kids get more video games, sorry. Why not help kids in your own country? That would be a lot nicer of you, I'd say.
Well, that's still the wrong usage, geeks hack into people's computers, nerds just watch Star Trek and... um... eat crackers, I guess.
Don't ask me though, I'm just a freak. Probably a black hat one if you want to get technical, since I wear a fedora of that color. I do like crackers though, or at least saltines.
But will there be a European release? I love the original game, and I've waited and waited for the sequel to be released here, but there's only been a few false starts. They've put it up as "to be released" time and time again, only to postpone it for later every time.
It's so they will only connect at "comfortable conversation distance", which for most/.ers would be from home, I guess.
Just listen to the really creepy advertising people.
I don't use Flash, so would you care to enlighten me and the rest of the non-flash using heathens as to what the FAQ says about it?
I don't find the question of if and _how_ they will implement it to be redundant, and I don't wish to go on a wild goo[se/gle] chase searching for an answer which isn't answered.
True. This game will probably just be YAMMORPG with a sci-fi theme, unfortunately. Maybe they'll try to implement it in a way so a person using "bullet time" will gain extra speed and accuracy for a while, but it's not quite the same.
I have never bought a DVD from Disney to be quite honest, so I don't know if it's true. I have an extensive DVD collection however, as do some of my acquaintances, and we have never encountered a DVD where the Stop button is coded to not work. AFAIK, all buttons relating to playback except the Start button can be turned off. If anyone has any information otherwise (apart from hearsay), please say so and I'll know I'm wrong. All I say is from personal experience and what I've read, as I don't have any insight in the inner workings of DVD content control software.
I suggest these parents educate themselves on using a DVD remote control. On all DVD players I have seen you can just press the Stop button (twice), and then press play and the movie will start. If they're trying to bypass the promotional material, why don't they try pressing the most obvious button on their remotes? They say "not a mere inconvenience", I say it's just mere ignorance.
I think CSS is pointless, but I really wish people could bark at the right tree.
....Lou Gerstner and Linus Torvalds rushing into Ransom Love's office, ripping off his mask, revealing Bill Gates?
I can picture it right now.
"I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for your damn giant corporation, and your stupid penguin too!"...sorry I'm just real tired of hearing SCO barking when they clearly need dentures before they can even try to bite.;)

Games might look much better at higher resolutions, but I'd rather not be inspecting the pores on Keanu's nose when I want to watch the Matrix.
But not one of those games could beat the feeling of kicking grandpa's ass in multi-player Halo.
