    This flagrant attempt to abuse executive powers for political purposes provides the perfect opportunity for a high-profile congressional investigation. Whoever gave the order to send this summons to Twitter should be fired at the very least. If it was Trump himself (who else could it be, really?) then get the impeachment ball rolling!

  2. How much are we talking about here? One million dollars? A billion? 10 billion?

    He currently owns about 45 million shares. 30% of that is about 14 million. At about $14/share, that's roughly $200 million.

    His 45 million shares amount to 7% of Twitter, so we're talking about 2% of the company changing hands.

    No matter how good your backups are, filesystem corruption still sucks. It's a failure mode that's basically impossible to detect and recover from automatically. I've never seen a filesystem corruption that wasted less than an hour of sysadmin time.

    The summary gives two good answers to its own question:

    1. Use non-proprietary, open, universal protocols. There's a reason why SMTP works so well -- nobody owns it, everybody supports it. Unfortunately this provides no path for some entrepreneur to take over the Internet and become the next trillionaire, so nobody's going to put much work into making it into an easy one-click app. You may have to do some work yourself, both deploying and promoting your chosen solution.

    2. Install seven apps. This seems to be the solution that most people prefer. If you need to be babysat by corporate nannies, then eat what you're served and enjoy it.

    Actually, we do. It's formed from a whole lot of laws, some of which have been around longer than those European countries. The only difference is that it isn't all on a single piece of paper.

    I've had pretty good results with the Asrock H87WSA-DL "workstation" board. Very reasonably priced compared to "server" boards.

    Core i3, Pentium, and Celeron chips all support ECC. Good luck finding a motherboard with all 72 data pins wired though.

    If you're comfortable with "crackdowned" and "crackdowning" then by all means, feel free to use "crackdown" as a verb. But if you find yourself saying "cracked down" or "cracking down" then you must admit that the verb is two separate words: "crack down."

    He issues the Emancipation Proclamation, whereby all slaves in Union territories had to be freed.

    That's a common misunderstanding of the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln had no authority to free slaves in Union territories. Instead he used his wartime powers as commander of the armed forces to take possession of rebel properties (slaves) and dispose of them appropriately (set them free).

    As states came under Union control, those slaves ... had to be freed.

    That is correct.

    You need to zero the DRAM too, since DRAM cells can sometimes hold their contents for a long time after losing power. Or you could use encrypted DRAM.

    Also, the judge implies that aliens in foreign countries have Constitutional rights, which is complete lunacy.

    The Bill of Rights does not grant special privileges to citizens. It recognizes the inherent rights of all human beings, and prohibits the government from infringing on those rights. Are foreigners not human?
