    They don't do that, either. No UK network will route any call by IMEI, or by non-registered IMSI.

    Depends on the phone. SonyEricsson GSM phones certainly do this. Nokias don't. However, as the UK operators don't actually route emergency calls for phones that are not registered to there network, it won't actually work.

    Vodka's taxed the same way as whisky. (Scotch is spelled without the "e", BTW.) In fact, not only is vodka the most popular spirit here, but the majority of the vodka consumed in Scotland is domestic. Often mixed with Irn-Bru, mind you...

    Budwieser in Britain is both. As far as I am aware, it's the only place where both can call themselves Budweiser.

    Bud (as opposed to Budvar) is still the more popular of the two, though.

    I find the fact that in the US Smirnoff Ice has to be a strange brewed beverage that's almost a beer, while everywhere else it's a pre-mixed Smirnoff+mixer drink quite amusing.

    Regardless of any argumnents for and against, the hunting of foxes is not going to be banned. However, the pratice generally known as fox hunting - which is a specific activity involving chasing and killing the fox with hounds and horses, and is considered by many to be barbaric and cruel - is likely to be outlawed by the current parliament.

    There's a possible apocryphal tale that when the crime of buggery (which was used as the legal term) was introduced in Victorian Britain, Queen Victoria vetoed a similar law banning lesbian sexual acts as she refused to believe they were possible.

    The DVDs were released yesterday in the UK. I would imagine that's probably also true for France (where the webpages in the GP appear to be hosted).

    999 isn't going away. There's no good reason to stop it from working, even if 112 becomes the "official" number. Hell, 911 even works here, due to the number of times people dial it instead of 999.

    Why would they do that? The only legal power they have is to collect the licence fee where it is due (including chase evaders - something they tend to be somewhat over-zealous in doing, as they just assume everyone has a TV).
