You must live in a terrible area. In any metro area with any amount of economic activity, you could definitely find a job within a decade even if you aren't the greatest.
While there certainly are H1Bs from various nations who are very talented and capable, they are not the ones that will be willing to work for peanuts. Someone who is good at what they do and in demand is smart enough to know they can make more money and will demand first world pay. The H1Bs that will work for peanuts are either low-skilled or just don't have much experience and will leave your cheapass company just as soon as someone else offers them a little more money which won't take long. Any way you slice it, top talent requires top pay. Companies that just want cheap labor will be forever surprised when their projects are constantly behind schedule and low quality.
That's how it works for public union employees in Democratic controlled parts of the United States, which is largely why their pensions are all essentially bankrupt.
An Al Qaeda member named Anwar al-Awlaki is not an American citizen in any meaningful way. Killing him was perfectly acceptable. American citizens have fought against their own country in previous wars too, only you didn't hear about it. They were killed with no trial and no fanfare, because that's the way war works.
Chicago residents have zero interest in individual rights and freedom. In fact, the very idea frightens them. They would much rather have the government take care of them and tell them what to do. This is why every Chicago incumbent (all Democrats) gets reelected as long as they are interested in running. People here have no desire for reform, as they are either getting something from "the system" or think they will be too.
Once I realized this, a lot of things that were previously a mystery all of a sudden became clear.
It's actually the opposite. Libel and defamation laws offer public figures virtually NO protection. Otherwise any politician who lost a race could sue the winner for defaming him through those nasty attack ads, etc etc.
Like buying a $500,000 medallion PER CAR? This is one case where I will enjoy seeing the large multinational corporation squashing the little guys (the cab Mafias of the world).
Tenure would do nothing to stop this, and would in fact make it worse. Without tenure, you're free to go work somewhere else if you find the current environment too oppressive. Anyone working in IT knows the importance of being able to switch jobs. You can't plan on working in one place forever. If there were tenure, you would be unable to switch jobs without starting on the bottom at the new place. Good luck escaping a bad work environment under that system! Imagine the horrible political environment that would result from management trying to force out a tenured employee that they couldn't fire, so the only way is to make the environment so miserable the person quits.
That's very very unlikely to happen. The school board and parents would come down hard on any administrator who was that dumb.
Should we give IT workers tenure too? What if the boss threatened to fire everyone who doesn't want to program in VB6? See I too can come up with completely ridiculous examples to prove non-existent points.
This lawsuit makes no business sense whatsoever. Why the hell don't Apple and Samsung settle with a cross-licensing agreement?
This suit is making a bunch of lawyers very rich, which in this case I'm OK with. If the two companies don't come to their senses and settle, I will enjoy seeing them get milked by their lawyers.
Shit dude, just pay the extra $62 a month and move out of the ghetto. Or just stop paying the extra $38. I bet nothing happens. Especially if your management tolerates the antics of Section 8 freeloaders.
How can Cox get away with this? Disney is famous for saying "carry all of our channels or none". That means that all of the ESPN channels, Disney channels, ABC, and every other channel that Disney owns must be included with all of a cable company's packages (and charged accordingly) or Disney will refuse to deal with that cable company at all. How can Cox (whoever they are) get away with a deal that no other cable or satellite provider has managed to get?
In the case of your ex-father in law, the police did the right thing. The money would have been untraceable, and they weren't about to waste time on crime that essentially only victimizes the stupid.
In the United States, Police (and schools for that matter) have huge budgets, but too little of that money makes it to the front lines. Administrators soak most of it up, and any further funding increases go straight to the top. Only the bare minimum flows to the bottom where it's needed most. This is the problem with the "more money for police" and "more money for education" crowd.
Google should just get the hell out of France.I can't imagine its profitable to put up with the French government bullshit. Besides, French citizens could still use Google services. No way would the French government be able to figure out how to block them.

I don't know what you're talking about. Police departments get sued all the time, and often lose.
That's right. Since 2008, the Chicago Way has gone national. I'm sure I don't need to explain why.

It would be hard to make a programming language slower than Java, even if you tried.

That petition is a bunch of socialist BS. The real victims have already been compensated - AI is just making a shameless cash grab.

The $150k is in "government numbers", ie total fantasy.
It sure as shit does not. Urban property taxes are many times higher than rural.
Pedants are far more annoying. At least dipshits are fun to make fun of.

The money was almost certainly sent via Western Union, gift cards, or some other non-electronic-trail means. Good luck tracing that.
It's military pricing. Nothing costs less than $100k. Hell, it costs the vendor $10k just to process the required government paperwork.
Lets just call this what it really is: Make Al Gore even richer!
