    A static jpeg that isn't taking a major part of the web page wouldn't make me annoyed enough to filter it out unless it was gore, necrophilia or cp.

    And a small text only ad - that would almost be cute these days!

    With the current amount of commercials and reality shows a bath is a lot more satisfying. Just remember to bring a water-proof book and some soothing music.

    And if AdBlocking software is banned, then people will just figure out other ways to keep the web clean.

    Or just avoid the ad-contaminated sites completely and stick to sites where the ads aren't drowning the content. It's nothing new that ads are killing information outlets. It has happened to magazines (like the Byte magazine which in the mid 80's was almost all ads) where the magazine turned from a small interesting magazine to a huge ad-book with a few articles that weren't far from being ads themselves.

    besides than that, the copyrights and such aren't that different over in china.. they're just very sloppily enforced.

    Rather like not enforced at all except if it's infringing on the rights of some local VIP.

    And it's a good way to make people not becoming any future beta testers. Annoy them enough and they will just come up with a "F You" and do something else.

    Then list them. Otherwise we don't know about them. As soon as I have looked into the alternatives I have realized that everyone of them have some shortcoming.

    Well, the only thing I miss in the Pi2 is an audio in connector, not the end of the world though since I can use an USB sound card instead.

    What I have used it for so far is to set up an APRS digipeater/igate and as a controller for a radio repeater with subtone control.

    The Pi is a general-purpose device that's pretty cheap and therefore accessible to a lot of people willing to do reasonably simple things.

    Considering what you get for your money it's actually pretty good.

    If you use it for one thing at a time it's pretty decent. And it's a great platform to learn embedded solutions on. Also realize that a lot of embedded devices out there are a lot more constrained than what the Pi is.

    If you want something cheaper you can go for the Atmega, but then you lack a lot of the features offered by a real OS.

    Today malware is multi-purpose.

    Sometimes I wish going back to the time of DOS viruses. At least they were more entertaining even though they were annoying.

    And "regulatory requirement" varies by country, so they may in one country be required to store it forever and in another be prohibited to even collect it.

    And there was no real explanation on what data that's sent, only some fuzzy statements. How can they be sure that "Security" don't profile me?

    Any information pulled will be useful to profile me as a user.

    Well, you get tagged on a scale, so you may get a higher priority on your tags if you stand out using bitcoins.

    I agree there - as soon as I saw Diebold and NFC I realized that this is going to be really bad.

    Not that magnetic strips are good either, they should have been killed a decade ago. All cards I have are chip cards, and any point of sale here in Sweden have a chip reader.

    For Iris scan, just watch this scene from the movie Demolition Man.

    You can skim them, but it's a lot harder than the magnetic strip.

    Well, even if the coins aren't directly backed they at least have a symbol value that may persist over time, and they stand wear a lot better than paper note. So from that perspective I think that coins could be useful if the world as we know it ends.

    But only time will tell.

    Well, it seems like the compromises are primarily on the magnetic stripe card readers, and I sure hope that they will be obsoleted soon.
