Yes, because checks is something only a few people over 70 uses here. Everyone else goes fully electronic transfer.

I have never had a checking account and only received a check once or twice in my life since I left school in the 80's and started working.

    Checks are so darn inconvenient.

Only reason for me to run cash is for candy - and that's not something I really need.

And only if things goes down the drain completely and banks are bombed to oblivion the cash starts to get useful.

For all other transactions above $5 there's no need for cash, the plastic card and direct bank transactions are fine.

Personally I think that paper notes could be discarded completely. Coins would be better since they would make robberies inconvenient.

Nobody did detain him, he chose to hole up in that embassy himself.

And in a while the statute of limitation on the alleged crime will expire and the legal system will lose interest in him. The fact that he raised the UN issue was just to call attention to himself. The only thing that he should worry about is then the UK police that may see him as an unwanted person that shall be expelled and therefore put him on first best transport out of the country to any country willing to accept him, and that doesn't exclude the US.

This must be some new record in correlation of unrelated events.

Guerrilla education when it comes to science and way of living in other cultures for both boys and girls is the only way to undermine the religious dictatorship.

Unfortunately we see a turn into religious dictatorship in the west as well - especially led by the creationists that tries to dictate that science is bad and religion is good. You can have religion, but tinker with it at home and don't push it to your peers.
