Cool! I just had to do a WinXP reinstall for my parents, and I didn't want to set them up with Outlook again. And Mozilla proper is so, well, 1999 ;)

Anyway, they've been bugging me for weeks to get them off our ISP's slow webmail (well, mostly its slow because of my torrenting, but don't tell them that....)
So if Thunderbird is stable, I will set it up for them as their email client.

But personally I'll just stick with Mutt, thankyou-very-much.

I don't think the 2500 Barton for $90 can be beat by anything Intel offers, especially with a little OC knowledge (I have two 2500 based systems overclocked to 2312mhz, which is faster than a 3000).

But even w/o OC, you'd have to spend about $160 to get a comparable 2.4ghz from Intel.

If you are spending more than $200, however, it is clearly a different story and Intel's 800fsb chips are the better deal.

Now if you are compressing 1 gig worth of data, I suppose you may have a point as far as time spent, but how often do people PGP that much information?

It has allways been my impression that the biggest use of PGP is exchanging short messages and documents.

Yeah, I was thinking (even before I read the article) that we could start up IMLA (the Internet Music Library of America) and everyone would donate all their CDs.

Then we could have some sort of automatic checkout system that keeps track of how many people are playing a song at any given time, and make sure the library has enough donated CDs to back it up.

There would be a bit of a wait on new releases, just like a brick and mortar library.

So once Snapster begins to get profitable with music it starts buying copies of all ebooks, movies, and software...

But then there is the problem of license agreements. The RIAA could just take a page from M$ and start issuing CD licenses on a per-stereo basis. Hell, they even have a sort of "Product Activation" system with DRM. I guess that would pretty much seal their fate though.
