No plans for any of the above =)
Well, maybe a mortgage.. but I'd make sure it was a good long term investment.
But the bottom line for the company is how much they need to pay someone to do the work at an acceptable level of quality.
Well, you see, I'm not a professional. I'm an 18 year old guy fresh out of HS getting paid $15/hr. to do a job that any respectable "professional" would charge much more for. But I am in fact doing full blown sysadmin stuff, so I get to call myself that:P
How about we just count the entire music industry a "loss"? Would everyone please just STOP LISTENING TO MUSIC?
This would solve all our problems. No RIAA, no lables, no artists, NO MUSIC!
Then Slashdot would be free of all this "Evil RIAA" mumbo jumbo and we can get on to discussing IMPORTANT things, such as the up and comming, breathtaking new release of awk !

They might someday, if Congress looses all common sense. Oh wait...
This seems like business as usual for astronomy.. why does it merit a story?

Well maybe, but at least this gives everyone time to uninstall KaZaA and hide their external drives in a secure location for the next few months.
US Citizenship has nothing to do with your location on the planet.
Granted, but how much you get paid has everything to do with your location.
Go ahead and move then. I think I'll keep my sysadmin job. They'll have a hard time replacing ME with some overseas Indian.
You could request those US salaries all you wanted, but you wouldn't get them.
And get paid $10,000/yr ?
Oh, I see the problem now. You cheated by actually participating in a joint venture with real life people.
/. is a loner =)
I was proceeding on the assumption that everyone on
They're probably still using 300 baud where he lives
I don't think you understand how hard it would be too sort through the muck with everything crammed together like the words in your post.
Yes but its not the most gramatically correct way of saying that, and here on /. we're all about grammar.
It's called postal money orders.
Last I checked a postal order took more than 2 minutes...
....and Mozilla, a Web browser that can perform basic workplace tasks.RAR!!#)&
Technically correct, but sure is one hell of an understatement.
Ahhh! the benefits of overcrowding.
3)Less taxes

VIA = Dual channel DDR? Since when? Nvidia's nforce2 has DualDDR, but VIAs KT600 does not.
MCI used to stand for "Mass Communications, Incorporated," but yeah, they won't acknowledge it anymore.
Back in the 80's it was great, but now its obsolete.
Moderators: please read at -1 so you aren't mislead when a thread is reparented :\
the left nav bar of slashdot has been redesigned!!!
I started reading Slashdot just several weeks ago and I have to say this is a very welcome change.
It makes spotting new stories much easier... props to who ever implemented it!
M$ doesn't have a whole lot to fear from Mac OS X because it *only* runs on PPC.
But if they developed Office for x86 Linux, Linux popularity on the destkop would rise enough to hurt Windows sales.
No, you've got it wrong:
