Like a another poster said try http://sify.com/food, pretty good classification of the recipes. They also cover non-indian cuisine (probably the ones popular in India and spiced up..). They also have a category of meals called "bachelor", found that pretty useful.
I would like to ask you a question, since you are Indian. Is entrepenuership permeating the culture in India? Do you detect a significant change in India in this area over the last 15 years or so?
I believe it is, things are changing for the better in that perspective. It certainly would take time to undo the damage caused by taking the socialistic route at Independence, but given the direction freedom is taking in India I believe it is heading for a brighter future.
You got to realize that most of the out of job programmers are the self taught types, with no formal education in computer science, who entered the field because it paid well. I would seriously doubt that Americans with an engineering degree would find themselves out of work (if they are worth the degree). And even if there such cases, an engineer would be the last person to waste his/her time griping about the loss, they'll be busy finding another one or creating some more.
Change is always resisted, we can easily come up with reasons how the change could make things worse and they of course do to an extent. Question to ask would be, are the benefits worth it? Is this a good turn for the longer run (as far as we can see it). Technology is our friend, with a few undesirable risks, do not drive it away.
Because of the high demand during the boom, a lot of people with no educational background or interest were enticed into the field for the money. Look around and I am sure you can see such people in your workplace. They'll have no clue what a big O notation is! or even what binary search means! These are the people who should get weeded out, but sadly the managers above are only human and many a times even unqualified and incompetent. It is then upto the person to find what he/she deserves.
Just because it's more white-collar doesn't make it less of a sweatshop.
And just because you say so it doesn't make it a sweatshop either! There is enough demand for tech workers in India still that no employer could take such advantage, its still a free country.
Get practical, most companies which will try to keep the tech jobs here and pay high end salaries will perish because people will not care as long as a competitor offers the same service for less. Trying to give the issue a humanitarian angle will only make a bureaucratic mess
After reading the article I wondered if they had any software job openings posted on their website, take a look at the one Software Engineer job they have open.
At present, the vast gulf of space prohibits access to these treasures, but a loosely knit group of like-minded experts believe that by tapping the rich resources of space, humanity's foothold on other worlds will be far more secure and long-lived.
Wonder if the movement of mass between the planets by an unnatural force would have any consequence on the stability of the system? Just a question, wondering if there is a simple answer to that.
However, for it to be a viable desktop for the masses there seems to me that there has to be some common features that a large number of Linux desktop users would appreciate. I thought about this quite a bit and started my list of what it would take for Linux to be my "ideal" environment rather than my preferred environment. I'd be interested to see what the community considers the most important features.
More often than not what the (geek) community considers the most important might not be in tandem with what the masses think. So for linux to be a viable desktop for the masses, we need a little mind storming. Going with the obvious of aping MS Windows definitely should be resisted, but fresh thoughts with the masses in consideration would certainly help make postive moves.
``This I believe makes us the No. 1 Linux desktop play on the planet,'' McNealy said today at the Comdex technology trade show in Las Vegas. ``That's not the only opportunity. We're calling on every ministry of information technology on the planet.''
I guess Sun is taking their definition of innovation beyond the realms of technology. This is a good thing, certainly for Sun. I believe the focus is strongly shifting towards the markets in India and China with their increasing buying powers. The outsourced jobs, after all are creating business opportunities in those areas. Might be too early to call it good a move, but a little pointer to that. Here is another article with comments from Australia's Reserve Bank Governor on the Indian and Chinese economies
But the questions ethicists have raised about such work are numerous: Should we be playing God? Does the potential for good that new life forms may have outweigh the harm they could do?
Can I play God? Oh wait a minute I AM GOD! and who thinks I haven't created life forms whose bad has outwieghed the good (for humans)?
It has been suggested that Asia will experience an IPv4 address shortage before other regions. This is simply not true. This is because addresses are distributed in a co-ordinated fashion from a single global pool, and there is no system whereby that pool is exclusively divided among, or pre-allocated to, different countries or regions. Through the current system of address administration, IP addresses are allocated according to immediate need wherever that need is demonstrated and it is simply not possible for isolated "shortages" to exist.
While it true that the those few articles which predicted a shortage in Asia were wrongly presented, the point is that the given the rate at which the Asian countries are growing in their requirements for IP space we will see shortage and possible poilitical fallouts. To call the shortage a myth is wrong
With storage prices falling through the floor, does it matter to anyone except whiny nerds whether the byte counts are done in base 10 or base 2?
Seen in isolation it doesn't really matter. But the point remains that the HD sellers are using the wrong count and the question that comes to the person who knows is "why?". The answer is simple - to mislead, by making the customer feel they are getting more than they actually are. In a free market it is important that any attempts to mislead the consumer be addressed, for it is a greedy system.
If you hope nobody can hack you or cause any problems with your servers because you assume they dont know what you are running...that is a problem.
That is a problem indeed, but given the number of bad sys ads out there (without whom many networks would not have sys ads) it sure has to be a concern for someone.
Mays Swicord, a scientific adviser to Motorola told New Scientist magazine that governments and industry should "stop wasting money" by looking for health damage.
Now why would Motorola want to advice the Government and others conducting the experiment how to spend their money? hmm... I wonder!

Of more than 18,000 students surveyed, 38 percent said they had lifted material from the Internet for use in papers in the last year.
While this is generally seen in the negative, how about the fact these students help in highlighting the good work published out there on the internet? All we have teach them is to give credit and not lift an idea word to word. Sadly the university evaluation system gives no encouragement or credit for having recognized a good idea. Thus the power of the internet is highlighted in the negative light
Very true. People flaming here forget the essence of this country! This country was built by immigrants remember? Ask the native american if you can find one (and fuck no he is not an *Indian*).
There lies a very fundamental difference between India and USA. Regardless of that and the cries of people having lost jobs in the current market what make the US of A great is the fact that she welcomes immigrants.
This month Anonymizer began providing Iranians with free access to a Web proxy service designed to circumvent their government's online censorship efforts. In May, government ministers issued a blacklist of 15,000 forbidden "immoral" websites that ISPs in the country must block -- reportedly a mix of adult sites and political news and information outlets. An estimated two million Iranians have Internet access.
Why doesn't the US do the same for the Chinese people? Last I heard their government had bolcked off google! (correct me if that is wrong). Is it because the US wants to trade with China but doesn't care for the business Iran can provide? Where is the true spirit of freedom?
Low cost and the freedom to tweak the software are reasons why eight of the world's largest consumer electronics makers, including the numbers one and two Sony Corp and Matsushita of Japan, have set up an alliance to develop and promote Linux for consumer electronics products, last month.
I just hope all these corporation continue to respect GPL and not find a way to tear Linux apart. Just a little caution needed after what happened to UNIX.
The FTC has estimated that the list will block about 80 percent of telemarketing calls. Charities, pollsters and political campaigns are exempt. In addition, a company may call a person if he or she has bought, leased or rented from the firm in the previous 18 months or has inquired about or applied for something during the past three months.
I think with those exceptions the call reduction will be much lesser than 80%, 40% maybe?
Any geek worth his or her metal knows Stan "The Man" Lee, the co-creator of Spider-man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four and countless other beloved Marvel Comics characters.
But our protests and logic mean little if Disney takes you to court. You lose the moment you have to shell out for that first session with the lawyer, so our advice is to be cautious with the files you create and remember, Micky Mouse is not a nice guy in real life.

Might not be relevant but is certainly of interest to the geeks who hang around here.
