CDMA does not always program over the air. I've sat with people on the line for like a half hour trying to program their Verizon phones and it's not always pretty.
The problem is that we activate TDMA and GSM phones but when you activate an older non GSM phone, you need to program a system ID which is like a location code and the new phone number by entering some codes into the keypad. This is different for all phones so we need a program that has a database of all existing phones and their programming instructions. I tried Google and amazingly I could bot find anything.
Believe it or not, AT&T/Cingular still have a lot of resellers who still activate TDMA such as Airvoice and we even have a few 100K subscibers. This is prepaid but it sells very well and the profit made from it is pretty amazing. THe most expensive cards are sometimes like $.30 a minute
Sony will match wahtever the Xbox comes out for. Both M$ and Sony have bottomless pits of money so they don't mind taking a hit on the harware. The problem for Sony may be when the PS3 come out at the same price as the Xbox and M$ slashes the price a week later just to stick it up Sony's ass. Either way, mass market consoles are not going to sell for more than $400. and even $400 is a lot for little johnny to hit his parents up for. It's going to be interesting.
Granted that I didn't read the article but it seems like slashdot and the Internet in general is full of these rumors. If I see an announcement about the release or specs for the PS3 today, I'm leaving.
That's a shame the game is so boring. I was ready to update my graphics card just to play it. Guess I'll have to read some other comments on it. How are the graphics to it anyway?
You are not kidding my friend. How about Id's masterpiece Wolfenstein 3D or Id's materpiece Doom? After all these games started the genre that made Halo such a "masterpiece" What significant contribution did Halo bring to games besides a reason to actually purchase an X-Box?

This post said exactly what I was thinking. Have you ever read Chaucer in the original English? It's so diffrent from today that you can barely understand it (British or American). And think of all the great English literature written after Chaucer (Shakespeare comes to mind) that was written in a much different version of English.
I respect the fact that France wants to preserve their language but why does that mean our language is degenerating?
Yet for some reasson there are about 3-4 cell phones on there. Why is the telephone grouped as one and the Nokia 5100 phone has it's own spot as does the Motorola Startac. This list is the biggest pile of crap I've ever had the misfortune to read.
Don't get me wrong, I think those old phones were cool in their time especially those phones that had the bookbag with the antenna and 20 minutes of talktime for $4 a minute but if the lightbulb can't be on there, different model cell phones shouldn't either.
Wow. What a great list. I don't really get it though. The TELEPHONE is considered a gadget? And if this is a gadget, why is the Cartier Santos Wristwatch ahead of it? I guess it's because before the wristwatch people were walking around with a Grandfather clock strapped around their neck and this caused many people to injure themselves. The weight that was lifted off the worlds shoulders when the wristwatch was invented could not possibly be imagined. Now the telephone, what a useless invention. Why would I want to speak to someone when I can just write them a letter that will reach them in a few weeks? All hail the wristwatch.
