    Well, maybe the film will do well if it takes 3 years to get it up on the screen.

    The best thing that could happen for the StarTrek franchise, is to starv the world of ST stuff for a while.

    Change is scary. For a lot of people the recognition and reader base might be a bit fragile, and they don't want to alienate or upset anyone the regulars.

    30 is the new 20, they say.

    More andmore people are starting their personal lives later. Getting mairried at 30 instead of 20. Longer life spans and such are leading people to not be as rushed to procreate.
