Good reply, really on point. I have no love for SCO, but in truth, the character of a man is best revealed in his behavior after victory. I expect this to be a very illuminating story on the moral fiber of many of you.
Just remember this when you geeks try to pull some moral high ground shit later. You're the same shitty people as everyone else. You just have more self-righteousness to spread around like rancid butter.
Isn't it awful how you don't have a license to do what you wish with other people's money? I know I'd like it a lot better if I could just take as I want, do as I will, and have no consequences for it.
You've crammed an awful lot of speculation in your post in an attempt to deflate my point, but you haven't actually said anything that does. You should run for public office.
1) He's not an employee in any way 2) charging more than people want to pay for entertainment is immoral? How... precise of you. 3) the fact that he is saying now that he is independently wealthy (ie has already profited from that which he now derides) certainly does call things into question 4) talking bad about record companies isn't exactly hurting his publicity, further increasing the self-serving aspect of this whole thing.
Except it was a fiction enshrined by the founding fathers into the Constitution so that people could profit from works they created. In other words, you'd be exactly right if you weren't exactly wrong. Keep fighting the power, though. I'm sure your pretend revolution is rolling on.
I just wonder one thing: has he stopped accepting royalties from the CD sales, or canceled his distribution contracts? Without that step, this is a fairly empty gesture from a very rich man.
They make it available. The fact that people don't want to pay for it doesn't justify the decision to pirate it at all. The remedy for not wanting to pay a set price is to not buy the item.
If someone is sensitive enough to be hurt by someone they don't know not caring about their dead loved ones, they're in for many nasty surprises unless they isolate themselves from the world.
Because you can't properly appreciate how easy you have it unless old people know that you understand it used to be harder. It's the stage before you chase kids off your lawn.
It's also a problem for people who have to share code with others who don't use the same indentation style. Nothing is more fun than trying to figure out just what the hell is going on when some stuff is spaced, some is tabbed, and automatically converting it could screw it all up for you.
Obviously, the braces have become a religious issue for Python people, which is a shame. They clear up any potential ambiguity all on their own, they aren't arduous to type, and they're much more amenable to automated tools. Still, if you'd rather get all holy war and insulting about it, you say a lot more about yourself and your ilk than you do about anyone else.
Good rebuttal. Brought in an offtopic parallel to something totally unrelated in service of bashing the US for now reason. Extra Slashdot points for you. Also, I was lying about that being a good rebuttal.
Go on putting your own interpretation on my motivations, and go on believing it's billionaires you hurt. You couldn't be more wrong in either case, but like all piracy justifiers, you have nothing but weak sauce on offer.
You make it sound like the market is sentient. There are people who are working on solutions, and if they are worthwhile, they will be developed further. This is a step in that direction. For a fantasy, it's awfully concrete.
I'm going to need all of you grammar nazis to email me your telephone numbers. I'm throwing a party, and it would be cool if you guys could stop by about 15 minutes before it ends to chase everyone home. Just bring yourself!
I don't believe in any higher power, and I don't feel I have a charter. I do it because it amuses me. You pirates trip over yourselves in silly attempts to make justifications.
And if you don't like being offended by people describing what you do, don't do what causes the description.

People must be buying different iPods than me.
You think?
If someone is sensitive enough to be hurt by someone they don't know not caring about their dead loved ones, they're in for many nasty surprises unless they isolate themselves from the world.
Why respect the dead? They don't care about anything anymore.
Nothing is hotter than remaining calm and emotionless during sex
Yeah, I messed that up completely editing it. Ignore that, and this. If you're read this far, you ignored my instructions.

Because there wasn't really a legitimate beef in the first place. This is just a group of nerds playing at "fight the power."

Of course, that forgets the salient point that your assumptions have as much effect on Comcast as your wishes.

Pretending for the moment that you aren't trolling, do you somehow expect to roll out a solution to this problem that everyone will uptake overnight?
So you're still free to steal the ideas of others. A wonderful exchange.
Come on, Eurotrolls, what do you have to say now?
