You know, I could probably visit any retirement home in the world and roll up a bunch of old people who will tell you that computers are useless and stupid. Would that parallel help back up your argument?
I was with you up until the "advancing arguments they couldn't possibly believe" bit. That is ridiculously arrogant of you to say. People do have different beliefs than you do, you know. Just because something doesn't fit through your filter, that doesn't mean it isn't perfectly logical to somebody else.
Why pay for it at all? Obviously, since you feel the price is too high, you should pirate it. It's your right to be entertained as you see fit, exercise it.
On the other hand, Microsoft really seemed to have something with getting the console out first for a lower price.
On the gripping hand, I'd say Nintendo really had something with dropping out of the technological race to armageddon. They seem to have found the sweet spot this generation.
I haven't tried 7.4.2 yet, but as of 7.4.1, drag & drop of music wasn't working for me. I had to make playlists and sync those to get the music on the phone. Perhaps I'm missing the magical modifier key?
Motion control was the surprise Wii counter announced six months before launch. Even the developers said they didn't know about it. It's tacked on, and as such, it's pretty much useless shit. Sony should have concentrated on making games instead of trying to catch up to Nintendo's control innovations yet again. Then they might not be in last place, trailing behind their own last generation.
Still, as soon as there are those magic five games I'm interested in playing, I'm in. But I'm an addict.
You realize, of course, that your "way off" aim is because you're aiming somewhere else, right? Don't blame the controls for the fact that you wanted to play the game on Pussy and have it do all the killing for you.
Apologies for being harsh - my serious comment is as such - you already knew you could turn that off. Did you think that having the game actually do all your aiming for you would make it more fun? Also, you can switch the firing control to the trigger (and I don't get why that wasn't default) which makes it a hell of a lot nicer. I've fired something like 100,000 shots across two games in the last week and I'm not having any trigger finger issues.
Demonstrations on private property don't have to be outlawed specifically, that's covered under trespassing. I personally support the removal of private property rights, however. The real crime is fencing off portions of earth for specific people.
Google was evil from the first penny they took in. If they truly wanted to be good, they would drop all money making schemes and simply provide their services for the good of the public at large.
You ever try to get a sharp weapon off of someone before? It's not the simplest thing in the world. If I had the choice when I had to disarm someone waving a knife, I would have tasered them too. Self-protection is still valid, you know.
Sure, absolutely. I've never had it happen to me, but I've seen it happen while other people were using it. Still, nothing has risen up to take its place. That, to me, is just as important as the openness of the file format.
Although to be completely honest, I so rarely use any sort of document generating software that I really don't care.
You're aware they're calling for 45-50 thousand people to show up to what is essentially a party thrown by a couple of geeky webcomic writers, right? I mean, sure, you can find 100,000 people willing to cheer for Ohio State (bless their black shriveled hearts) but that's a big money event. PAX was built by the community.
Well, since jaywalking is illegal in most places, getting arrested for that isn't really too much of an issue. I was just curious about what you claim to be underlying reasons. Typically, you aren't going to get hassled unless you hassle the cop first, although obviously there are exceptions.
Just saying "I didn't do nothing" hardly makes you unique amongst those who have been arrested. Prison is full of people who claim innocence nonstop. Still, cops are people too. They make mistakes, just like everyone else. I don't condemn the whole system based on that aspect.
So, I'm curious, what's the rest of the story? How did you piss off the cop? Did you do it by ignoring a lawful order? Give him a funny look? Hit him? Because really, you're leaving out the part that gives your credibility.
Right now, they have the best I've used. The format lock-in is a nice bonus for them, but realistically there's nothing even close to Excel, and Word does the job at least as well or better than every competitor I've tried. Naturally, this is just my opinion, just as your post was only yours.
I'm not hot and bothered at all. Don't go ascribing motivations when the internet makes them totally opaque.
Obviously, I would expect SCO to be quite awful in victory. Tell me, does that fact mean that it's somehow OK to mirror their actions as a sort of retaliation? Has that particular line of thinking ever been valid?
Trolling the board, obviously. I'm a little too social to be a geek. I never developed the requisite disdain for people. Also, I shower. So I have that "against" me as well. And I don't get religious about technology. I do have the intelligence, I just happened to pick up other traits geeks don't seem to have.
I'm aware this was not the explanation you're looking for, Sorry.
I wish I could fit your post in my sig. I guess I'll just link it.

Well one hurts a child. Potentially. I don't have access to any of these children to ask them.
The other hurts a lot of people, some of whom are rich. Since we all know the rich aren't actually people, it hurts no one.

I think most people fail to realize the only smart course of action is to disarm the populace.
Google was evil from the first penny they took in. If they truly wanted to be good, they would drop all money making schemes and simply provide their services for the good of the public at large.
That's not privacy, it's just good common sense. You should be hidden from the world. A non-entity. It's the only sane choice.
How do you end up with urea on your hands after using the toilet? Do you pee on them?

What method did you use to put a price on your annoyance? I must know, so I can make fun of it.

If Sony doesn't hurry up and sell a few million more consoles, the extra space won't be the only wasted aspect of the PS3.

Did you run out of Windows complaints that quickly? Because Notepad and Outlook are applications, not the OS. Just so you know.
