I am so mad at Microsoft for improving their product. The existing XBox 360 models are now useless. Sure, they play the same games the same way, but they are now 30% less fun because I know I don't have the best SKU.
It's also possible that your friend was expensive and bad. I'm not saying he is, but since you're just going for anecdotal evidence to back up your "cheap rather than good" statement I think the opposing side needs to be spelled out.
The FCC is not run by Congress. It is a part of the Executive branch. Congress makes the laws that the FCC must follow, but they get to choose how to implement them.
You read an awful lot into my comment, and gave a seriously long-winded explanation defending the irrational basis for your belief that a low id somehow equates to intelligence. It was fascinating to read. Thank you.
Oh, ok. I gotcha now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The PS2 does seem to be losing some steam in the latest charts, but obviously it will carry on for a while. I wouldn't trust the 7 years exactly, at least not for anything really worth playing, but certainly it's in Sony's interest to keep selling as much as they can.
Personally, I find playing the PS2 kind of painful now. It's not so much the graphics, although that's some of it. It's mainly the wired controllers. I hate being tethered now. It takes an incredible game to get me to drag it out all over again. God of War 2 pulled that off, of course.
I'm wondering, will this work as a drop-in replacement for existing hard drives? The article doesn't say, and while I can't imagine there would be a reason it wouldn't work, I really don't know. In particular, is this something that will work in Vista and not XP?
Out of curiosity, what is your console of choice? I have to assume PS3, since you brought in accusations of being a 360 fanboy without there even being the slightest implication in the OP of any kind of fanboyism. I'm dying to know: what makes you guys so defensive?
Shhhhh. Don't bring a voice of reason into a political discussion on Slashdot. You ruin it for those of us who live for the intellectual elite doing their version of Jerry Springer.
You were modded up, but your post is factually incorrect regarding the PS2 according to VGCharts. Argue about the source of that data all you want, but in the process be sure to cite the basis for your statement.
I won't touch the 'Wii is not next-gen' bit. There's no point in arguing against prejudice.
Faster interconnects between components would be the obvious answer.
You're making it out to be way more than it is. The taxpayers paid for it. How do you act like IBM is doing them a favor?
I don't even know what this means. I don't think IBM is doing favors for anyone except IBM shareholders. I also think that's just fine and dandy.
You can give that up now. Even MH42 has begun to realize that my observations have been correct.
I don't know MH42. I don't care about MH42's opinions. I don't even care if every other observation you've ever made in your life has been correct. This rant is half-baked.
And it was taxpayer funded to begin with, and nobody is cutting the taxpayers any breaks on subscriber fees.
That's a complete non sequitur. The development was taxpayer funded. The continuing operation is not. Even if it were, that wouldn't be a break, it would be paying the subscription fees through a different collector.
Look, just boil your arguments down to their core: you hate profit. You hate the idea of people making money. Good. We get it. Too bad for you, it's not going away anytime soon.
The taxpayers are getting a general advance of technology, with attendant benefits that ripple to places no one expects. I suppose this concept goes straight past your head. I'll just point you to the Internet, which seems to be your favorite tool for disseminating half-baked rants, and let you in on the secret that its development followed the same path.
Awesome, you've successfully combined unnecessary anger, anecdotal evidence, the arrogant assumption that only your opinion matters, a Slashdot meme, and a bunch of insults into one post. I think you get some kind of award for that.
Maybe because we like games, the XBox is good at games, and we aren't all fanatics who share your opinion.
I'm guessing here, of course, but I'm willing to bet I've nailed it.
Well, in your words, Google is "copying the entire work, and it's doing it for commercial purposes."

eyeballs == profit?
Did I get transported back to 1998?
It's also possible that your friend was expensive and bad. I'm not saying he is, but since you're just going for anecdotal evidence to back up your "cheap rather than good" statement I think the opposing side needs to be spelled out.
Oh my god, that is sad. Quickly, let's band together for the rights of the low-level crack salesmen.

Wow, they're so cool. I wish I could deface people's property when they got upset about me infringing on their rights, but I'm not cool enough.
I guess today you've discovered that prejudice doesn't hold true, even when it's your own.

Oh, I get it, the Wii is last gen. That's a good one. How did you come up with it?
Oh, and I read the other article and found my answer. Forget I asked.
I'm wondering, will this work as a drop-in replacement for existing hard drives? The article doesn't say, and while I can't imagine there would be a reason it wouldn't work, I really don't know. In particular, is this something that will work in Vista and not XP?

Good for you
Yeah, the LP is pretty much toasted. It's a fairly limited market now, made up of DJs and insane people. Good example!
Shhhhh. Don't bring a voice of reason into a political discussion on Slashdot. You ruin it for those of us who live for the intellectual elite doing their version of Jerry Springer.
The FCC isn't Congress, it's part of the Executive branch.

Well I'm impressed.
In what way?

Maybe you should stop by First Methodist and see the guys with testicular cancer. I hear it's different there.
