I didn't mean to belittle Clarke w/ that comment; I've been a fan of his for years. But I was surprised when he said that any TV was better than no TV. That is something I must disagree with but I'm not sure why.
I guess, while rubbish can teach you that there are other people and cultures in the world, it is far better to wait and meet an actual , real person and to formulate views on the outside world based on them rather than the mass-produced garbage their culture may spew out.
I agree with you. The vast majority, and by that I mean, pretty much everyone except a few geniuses, in every generation, have very little of any importance to say (This list would include me). That is why I don't run a webpage.
Infomation polution is a fallacy, just ignore it or change the channel; enviromental pollution is a problem.
It doesn't really matter. Most of us know some techie-geek who, if they can't come over and fix our computers, can at least recommend a prog to fix it.
Unless its' some of that hard-core porn-ware that a guy at our office got. Nothing removed it so they just reinstalled his OS.
BTW, a friend of a friend of a friend's third, hand-me-down advice is still better than the service I've gotten from Dell in the past.
IMHO, Television is a dead medium due to the vast numbers of ads. Its bad in Canada but appalling in America. One can't enjoy a film or show, its a chore to get through it without being barraged by meaningless, louder ads.
We had relatives over from Europe a few months ago and they couldn't understand why I was watching two films simultaneously. Its just the American way I guess.
Man, posting occasionally on Slashdot takes up enough time. You investigated Trolls!?
Get out Man! Take the dog to the park, have a beer with your friends, get a girlfriend. Anything but studying trolls, I mean, thats gotta be more useless than trolling itself.
I like your comment. I'd add though that people always forget that when they're in the cinema, the image is always fuzzy, it is not clear and crisp like it appears when it's on your home 19" monitor.
No film u've seen is completely clear so I'm not too excited about HD DVDs. I mean, at least till I get a proper projector for them.
And with all this vunderful technology, why can't they be bothered to get rid of the 'cigarette burns'?
I saw FOTR with a few buddies. One was bored out of his mind by the film. "Man", he said "If they don't destroy that ring in the next 15 minutes I'm outta here".
If one exists. /.'d already

Yeah, I mean he's a brilliant fiction writer and all, but, well, I guess, this just affirms that he writes fiction well.

Wish I could have heard that.
What made it really funny was that he wasted a quarter of his article trying to get back at the Interviewer and he shouldn't have mentioned it at all.
It like when the computer gives and error message and the victim asks you what it means. "Oh, its a common ID 10 T error".
Pls tell me the "The Interrupting Cow knock knock joke" joke. Idk it.

A. He had no arms.
A. One. But he has to show you how he does it.
But it was better than either of the "official" Matrix equals

IDK which cowboy hollywood actor said it but "So long as they don't do it in the street and frighten the horses" pretty much sums up my position.
Yeah I'm religious, maybe I'm a little too laid back though. Or desensitized by goatse.cx.
He loves them too, he just dosent like what they do.
Does the Pope wear funny hats?
phew.
Yes, but I felt sorry for him, I mean, he obviously brought his Best axe to the Council, and then he went and broke it.:-(
