  1. umm duh on PSP Battery Journal · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Are you suprised that the PSP gets less battery life than the DS? It does more. The screen on the PSP has 25% more pixels than both screens on the DS combined. It has a faster chip, and it has moving media.

  2. Re:Fossils on the Bench on Federal Judge: Keystroke Logging Isn't Wiretapping · · Score: 1

    You're right... in a way.

"Tapping" a phone, isn't recording a conversation over state lines. It is recording electrical signals that come from a microphone.

Why is there a difference because of the medium used? Do I deserve fewer rights to privacy because I choose to do most of my communication electronicly?

The man recorded information that was sent over an interstate network. Recording the emails is by definition wiretapping.

The judge claimed that it did not matter because the keys where typed "In preperation" of sending an email. It amazes me that we allow such stupid things as loop holes for basic rights.

  3. Re:Iraq: 61% Bush, 39% Kerry on Mock World Vote · · Score: 2, Insightful

It does not suprise me that the very small percentage of people in iraq that have internet access would vote for bush. In the US and other similar contries you can argue that an internet poll is at least a little bit acurate. That is most definitally false in a country like iraq though.

I generally write to the standard, and then spend a few hours after the fact making it work in ie. Safari/Khtml and Mozilla/Firefox are really very good at following the standard.

There are of course quirks in all of the browsers though. There is a REALLY great site to help with that though. quirksmode.org lists each css attribute, and has a table showing which browsers it works in, and which it mostly works in and so on.

You really can do some amazing things if you follow the standards AND work around the quirks. I try to avoid the comment-within-comment hacks, because they are ugly, and there is almost always a better way. Once you have a good knowledge of the quirks its not so bad.

asus probably does put out more bios updates than anyone, and apple most likely puts out LESS than anyone. That says something about both companies, but its not what you think it says. What percentage of bios updates are for new features? I'm sorry, but apple makes better products than asus by far.

You want to talk about annoying? I'm a Comcast subscriber.
Yeah, I can see how that would be really annoying.

I don't even own a dish and I'm seeing these fucking messages.
So? How is that any different than me? I don't have Dish Network either. Is it some how less annoying because I have a dish on my roof?

  7. Very Annoying on Viacom and DishNetwork Battle On Air Over Contract · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'm a directv subscriber, and I'm seeing these messages as well. It scared the hell out of my wife yesterday. She thought it applied to us, and was really mad.

These kind of games are very annoying. Honestly, even if dish network did drop the channels, how long do you think it would last? They would either bring them back or loose a lot of customers.

  8. I'll stick to my DirecTiVo on Latest SnapStream PVR App Reviewed · · Score: 2, Interesting

Sounds like a decent product, but I think anyone who says it is better than tivo is just flat out wrong. First of all, its not a device. I don't want to sit in front of my PC to watch tv, and I don't want to have to run a wire from my PC to my TV. Also, because its not a device, it requires your PC to be running the stuff all the time. Thats fine if you buy a PC just for using as a PVR, but that takes away your argument that its cheaper. A tivio is MUCH cheaper than buying another PC. With my tivo, I went to the store, picked it up, came home, plugged in a few cables, and it just works. No fuss at all. I didn't have to bother with any hardware, and I didn't have to install any software. Its just ready to go. Thats a beautiful thing. Now, this "Skip ads" feature that is supposed to be so wonderful... I may be wrong, but after reading up on it, it sounds like it takes a long time for it to figure out what is a comercial and what isn't. Honestly, its pretty damn simple to hit fast forward on the tivo, and then to hit play again. I never watch commercials, but yes, I do have to push 2 buttons. There is one more reason that nothing will replace my DirecTiVo. Dual built in DirecTV receivers. With my tivo I can record 2 things at once, and I get FULL quality. NOTHING else does digital recording, and as far as I know the only other software that allows recording of multiple streams is MythTV. To do what I am doing with MythTV would require me to have two capture cards with hardware encoding, two directv receivers that can be controled via serial cable, and it would still not be digitial.

  16. T-Mobile did it, not Danger on Danger Removing Games From Sidekick · · Score: 5, Informative

Danger did not remove the games. T-Mobile did. The games where licensed from a third part to T-Mobile to be included with the b&w sidekick. T-Mobile never paid to have them included on the colour units. They realized their slipup and are fixing it. I have a feeling that the reason they opted to remove them rather than to pay for them is that they where not worth the money. Really loosing these games is nothing to cry about.
