I agree that PAM can be a PITA and a huge security risk if it's improperly set up (I forgot an auth file and left ssh on my home machine without a root password for an entire weekend, what a mess) but, like most things, if done properly, it can make life a lot easier.
Kerebos authentication by disparate devices across heterogeneus environments just plain rocks.
So glad to meet you Mr. Serious. Have a seat while we organize a search party for your sense of humour. It's most likely hiding behind that overdeveloped sense of pedantic correctness of yours.
The one other thing that Slack doesn't offer out of the box is PAM. Not that hard to set up, but you have to recompile a lot of sources and be meticulious with your setup.
As always, Slack makes it really easy to shoot yourself in the foot. That's why it's so fun.
Whoever knowingly and with intent to defraud provides material and misleading false contact information to a domain name registrar, domain name registry, or other domain name registration authority in registering a domain name shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
That's pretty steep for not wanting your personal information shared to billions of people.
You can move the audio files around, you just can't use the box to rip video. There's nothing stopping you from putting your video capture card between the box and the tv. Well, maybe MacroVision(TM).
The masses don't want to trade tv shows on the internet. Maybe if the put a VCR into it to trade shows, that might appease more people. But you can't please everyone.
Because they're not trying to eliminate mp3's or give you a hugely restricted POS hardware. The only thing that you can't do with it is move recordings off the box to the PC. You can still use it as a recorder and move them to some other media.
Imagine that, giving us what we've been asking for, with only enough restrictions to make it unobtrusive to the user while still protecting the content providers rights.
But Tron was developed in the 80's. MS and the US Government blocked it in 1989, when MS didn't have an embedded platform.... United States threatened to designate TRON as an unfair trade barrier under its Super 301 trade law when it learned of plans by the Japanese government to use the software for computers in schools.
VOD and convergence should be high priority on production companies lists. Imagine subscribing to a program, rather than a channel. Watch it when you want, rather than at the network time slot. Sure commercials would be included, unless you were paying for the programming. Want to watch Frasier, go ahead and watch! Company X pays big bucks for the spot, and we watch the episode, and see company X's commercial. No more prime time rates, and programming would have to become better, to attract the viewers. Ahh, but what do I know?
Changed their browser name from Phoenix, otherwise we'd have more trademark infringment cases in the works.

'Hell comes to Frogtown', starring Rowdy Roddy Piper. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where frogs have mutated into humanoids.
The king frog kidnaps six fertile females, which are worth a fortune due to the fact that radiation has rendered most people infertile, and Sam Hell (Rowdy Roddy Piper) is recruited to go to frogtown, rescue them, and then hump their brains out until they're pregnant.
Some swearing, a little bit of nudity, a whole lot of laughs. All in all, I give it a two thumbs up for camp value. A lighthearted and fun movie. If you like beer and hate frogs, well then sir, you just found your rental!
This is about the only way you're going to make that lot considered 'Sexy'.
As long as they bring the money.
I'd love to see a shuttle rocketting towards the stratosphere with "Viagra keeps our rocket up too" stenciled down the side of it!

A bunch of coders release an entire office package, yet can't get an import routine to work properly. That must be entirely their fault.

We're going to need a bigger boat.
Ahh, we all remember our firsts don't we?
Unfortunately, this is turning more and more into a high-school reunion. My first was Sally Henderson.
So was mine!
Me too!
Over here!
I'm going to shower now. I feel sick.
OMFG, I didn't realize it was a Gentoo troll until the very end.
Do you get money for every convert, like the baptists?

Seems like sanity wins out in the end.
Waaay, off topic, but being as you can read Kanji, you should take a look at these shirts. They're at least good for a laugh.
Well, if everything gets opened up, then two things will happen:
1) We finally get the full disclosure that everyone wants from the government. TSG will be overrun.
2) a metric assload of YRO articles on Slashdot.
Yeah, porn would be about the only thing that would get me through a java book too.
Thank goodness for Python.
I can get a 14 foot spoiler and Type R stickers for my operating system!

Did Bill have that much clout even then?
Beer to get her drunk enough to go home with him, linux to look up what to do when you get her home.
Just stay away from the anime. Women don't have tails. If you find one, that's a badthing!
RMS is going to have a field day!

As opposed to Slashdot?
Cut from the same cloth, they are.
