"Contrary to popular belief, the 20GB version is not a crippled POS like the Core 360."
Bullshit. The Core is not "crippled". Name the games that will not work on a Core.
Buy a Core 360.
Buy a hard drive.
Buy a wireless controller.
Buy a Live headset.
Buy a component cable.
Buy an ethernet cable.
Buy a Media remote if your region's Premium model includes one.
You now have EXACTLY the same hardware and functionality as a Premium 360, but it has cost you more.
IMO The Premium is a bundling deal, nothing more.
The 20Gb PS3 lacks features of the 60Gb that cannot be added back in without external devices or 3rd party accessories.
"They will have the settings so low that fog and grass and trees and rain and whatever else will disappear, leaving anyone with a system powerful enough to handle these things at a disadvantage.
I don't think it'll be like that. I think it'll be more of a draw distance/texture quality/texture effects/particle FX/water FX tradeoff. Getting rid of landscape objects/environment effects client-side would be bloody stupid. Every player would just turn off the eye candy to gain an advantage.
"an admin can limit how much a client can play with their cvars and still be allowed on that server"
Although HL2 won't use Punkbuster (IIRC), I would think it would allow some of that kind of functionality to server ops. If your PC can't handle the GFX load required, you leave or play the HL2 slideshow.:)
"Valve has just basically invited (and really forced) everyone to stay in Half-life 1 level graphics for another generation."
"And even if someone would, the physics of crowbar impact don't even look right."
According to a post on HalfLife2.net from someone who mailed Gabe Newell about this (find it yourself!:) ), that's a screwup in the demo player, not the engine. The E3 footage was a pre-recorded demo.
You are right about the choice of footage though. The Striders would have been much better.
I have to disagree about the Sidewinder joysticks, as the Precision Pro (No Force-feeback) is one nice joystick. IMO, of course.
It's the other stuff that's killed the Sidewinder range - badly conceived crap like the Strategic Commander and the Dual Strike.
She may have sold the rights, but she hasn't sold artistic control. JK has a lot of control over how the films are handled. She also has a hell of a lot of control over the merchandising. In a recent interview, she said she was horrified at some of the merchandising ideas presented to her and she vetoed them.
I do agree about Time-Warner's legal dept tho.
Cease and desists to some 11yr old's fan site are not a good PR move.
They used a Pentium to calculate it?
OT, but;
:p
"Q: Does anyone else remember that old Chinese curse? 'May your life be exciting!'"
It's actually "May you live in interesting times".
May you do your research!

Which one is "crippled" now?
"With the current structure of email, thare's no simple way of discarding the attachment and keeping the mail body."
In Outlook 2003 (Not sure about 2000/XP) - Open mail. Right-click attachment. Select "Remove". Job done.
This involves some user interaction (and education), but it's far easier than forwarding the email body to yourself.
"Don't expect that much innovation from a company which gives its OS a name for each minor point release."
:p
When did Apple come into this?
"Ep 1=crumby movie, great fight scene at the end"
I'll second that.
Millions spent on digital technology for set replacement, digital mattes, FX shots, a wholly CG character.
After all that, the best bit of film is two blokes try to hit each other with sticks.
"AoTC was not shot digitally. It was shot on 35mm film,"
Really?
"Why are they giving it away? Is something wrong with it?" - How a lot of people would think.
The old saying "You get what you pay for" would also be appropriate. Cheap/free often = nasty.
There's been quite a few different spellings of the Bard's name, "Shakespeare" is only the MODERN spelling. :p
He spelt it differently himself in manuscripts. Spelling must have been a fashion statement back then. A bit like leet-speak...

Are you an id fan? That's FUD, plain and simple.
