I don't know why so many people moan about the extended version of FOTR. I was well aware there would be 2 versions as was everyone I know, and it wasn't like we had been actively seeking information.
I think there was even a story on BBC News about it where they explicitly said the extended version would be out later and have extra stuff for bigger fans.
imo unless you never read magazine/internet/TV reviews or watch the news or talk to friends or other fans about it then you don't have any excuse for being "tricked". and if you are this type of person, then with all the money you save by not communicating in any way with anyone you can probably afford both versions anyway.
when the Two Towers came out, I actually bought the normal version because I really wanted to see it again. I've just finished watching the extended version with commentary. I noticed that there's a documentary on the normal version about the CGI battles with a preview of the battle in ROTK. this documentary isn't in the appendices of the extended version. maybe FOTR normal edition had some unique content too?
well my friend drives a 200,000pound car so I don't consider it too uncommon.
if stealing money requires you to kill or mutilate your victim you seem to think murder and mutilation will become as common as robbery, whereas I think it's more likely that mugging will become as uncommon as murder and mutilation.
using your logic, if we put photos on the back of credit cards won't the thieves just start cutting off peoples' faces!?
>You've mistaken reducing the probability of being robbed with reducing the danger of serious injury in the event that one should be robbed.
you made the mistake of assuming that if you're going to be robbed then the thief will do anything, i.e the probabilty of being robbed if all the thief has to do is steal your wallet is the same as the probabilty of being robbed if the thief has to perform minor surgery on you and then circumvent any other security measures.
what has happened with credit cards? do the theives now mug people and murder/incapacitate them so they can't report it stolen? no. credit card fraud is now mostly either applying for a card with fake documents, or stealing the card details without the owner knowing.
are more people physically hurt through cash being stolen in muggings or through credit card fraud?
you can't assume muggers will steal these chips like they steal cash when they don't even bother with credit cards. mostly trying to use a known stolen credit card or chip will just get you caught.
if you say to a thief "you can only get money off me by killing me" then 99.9999% won't do it. and the couple of psychos that actually would do it are probably the kind who would torture you for fun anyway.
do you see how the pope (a Christian and God's voice on Earth) refusing to condemn Hitler (a mass murderer) doesn't reflect well on Christians as people who claim to oppose murder?
do you need some sort of diagram or a version that uses phonetic spelling?
you mean previously they weren't able to tell it was the guy in the 200,000 car? and yet somehow they're going to acquire the skills to circumvent the security of an electronic method of payment?
yes, because there isn't going to be any method of you reporting the chip stolen, or the chip being declined once your dead body is discovered is there?
I guess we should all leave our possessions outside our houses and the car keys in the ignition. If you're dealing with someone who is willing to risk gong to jail just for some material items, you don't want to give them a reason to come into your house and put your family at risk do you?
I don't know why parent is modded funny, seems like a serious complaint, though it's not something I've ever seen myself with DVDs here in UK.
if they do start doing that with DVDs here, I'll just obtain a copy through other channels. it's especially easy for me to obtain stuff like that being at uni. I have no problem paying for something that's good, but if they force me to choose between paying to be annoyed or watching for free without annoyances, they'll quickly find themselves not getting another penny from me, cf. DRM.
I'm not sure what kind of crap virus detection your bios has, but with mine I can just enter y/n to accept or reject the changes being proposed when installing an OS.
imo the Tom Bombadil part is boring and pointless.
I don't know why people are so obsessed with it following the book perfectly. if you want what's in the book, then read the fucking book. I think the films are fantastic so far, but then I judge them by how much I enjoy watching them, not by how similar they are to something which has already existed for a very long time.

agreed.
I use SuSE 8.2 for work because I "ssh -X" to a shared parallel computer and having multiple desktops is almost necessary with all the windows I have open. Windows cannot touch linux in terms of usability for me.
but the only things I have installed apart from what's on the DVD's and internet updates are Firebird and Thunderbird. I can just unzip them and run. I haven't been able to update or install any programs manually because of all kinds of libraries and development packages being needed too. thankfully with so much on the DVDs it hasn't been necessary.
similarly, updating and installing drivers (assuming they exist in the first place!) isn't trivial like it usually is with Windows.

why should ANY program be capable of locking up the entire OS?

yes but the pope refusing to condemn Hitler over the holocaust wasn't their greatest hour.
>For example devout Christians hate murder,
but didn't have much to say about Hitler did they?
>and devout Christians hate rape.
wow, such high principles. doesn't apply to not getting 14 year olds pregnant with the "son of God" though...
Y'ever sat down and read this thing? Technically, we're not allowed to go to the bathroom.
you mean previously they weren't able to tell it was the guy in the 200,000 car? and yet somehow they're going to acquire the skills to circumvent the security of an electronic method of payment?
plus RFIDs are short range anyway.

>Or even nastier, finding someone with money to burn, kidnapping and or killing them and removing the chip
if you're prepared to injure or kill to steal money, then guess what? YOU CAN ALREADY DO THAT RIGHT NOW!!!!
if the Christian fundamentalists hate it...
but didn't work in 2000 did it?

lol what a pathetic list for a ~3 hour film
I like the dwarf jokes, and the friendly rivalry between Gimli and Legolas is fantastic, I'm glad there's more in the extended version.

killing yourself is not illegal in UK
why complain about people complaining?
either don't listen (read), kill yourself, or kill everyone else.
>...it's still in the testing stage...
yeah I kind of gathered this by the title. apparently you didn't even read that, or the part where is says the illness-causing part has been removed.
how is this insightful? parent simply doesn't understand the concept of a vaccine.
if you get mod points, wait for something decent to come along, don't immediately blow your load over the first thing you see.
you are absolutely pathetic. he specifically says a CD HE paid for and you turn it into a CD he's obtained illegally.
that's not a translation or an argument, it's just being a retard.
