Just thought you might like to know.:)

Bah.. remember when CD-RW was only 4X? They had to screw around with the standards and break backwards-compatibility to make them go faster -- and even at that they max out at (supposedly, I've never seen media faster than 12X) 24X.
It's a problem for me since I have three burners.. one 52x24x52, one 20x8x52, one 4x4x24.
Even though the old 4X media are supposed to work in the faster drives (when burnt at 4X) too, I find half of them don't.
So no, CD-RW doesn't just work either. I think the whole lot needs a good bit of time to settle and mature a bit.
Googling for "canoe toronto sun" I see that they are related. Well, I now have another news site to stay clear from (a shame, too, because there aren't many Canadian sites with good tech news. Know any?)
Whether it is illegal or not is not the point the parent was trying to make, I think; the article demonizes wardriving by connecting it to child-pornography (whether intentionally or through ignorance of the reporter) so that Joe Sixpack will think "Wardriving? Isn't that the thing that kiddie fiddlers do?"
I believe the normally italic parts are rendered with tags, which leaves the rendering completely up to the browser. In this case, it seems Konqueror defaults to bold. This would work:
This is an unfortunate problem with CSS positioning.. if something doesn't fit neighbouring elements do NOT move to accomodate it.. it just spills wherever their is room. The layout completely breaks at 640x480.
I'm not certain but I think Slashdot always searches with an OR, (instead of the more logical and common AND) so if you search for "Slashdot with Web Standards" you'll get any page with "Slashdot" or "with" or "web" or "standards" which is virtually useless..
Does it occur only to me that this is insane and an indicator or one of the ridiculous problems in Microsoft Windows? Unless it is playing with system files or hardware (which it shouldn't be, anyway), why need it run as Admin?
Silva's top technology officer wants to transform the
land of samba and Carnival into a tech-savvy nation where everyone from schoolchildren to government bureaucrats uses open-source software instead of costly Windows products.
Ahh.. but there's no Samba in a Windows-free environment!
Remember.. the installer isn't a command-line, its a TUI. Basically, a GUI done in text. Its not as bad as you'd think.
And have you ever installed Windows 2000/XP? It uses a text-mode installer..
I've been wanting to set up a PDC with Samba but have discovered that 2.2.8 is a bit limited (i.e. no NT Users and Groups aside from "Domain Users" and "Domain Admins").. is it safe to upgrade to Samba 3 yet? Is it reliable?
The standard argument is getting annoying.. it usually runs along the lines of "Linux isn't Windows, and until Linux IS Windows, it is not ready for the desktop."

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with canoe.ca?

.. you first think that it should be rated "M" and not "AA" (that's "R" to you Americans.) :)
Here's a free hint: it wasn't the steering wheel ;).
I know the Japanese are fairly small (in general), but only up to 130 pounds??
Yikes!

(in the CSS stylesheet)
cite { text-decoration: italic; }

In fact, I'm sure it was good for them too; I've heard music I first found on mp3.com make its way onto TV shows.
Oh well.

It's a moot point, anyway, since USB storage devices all use standard drivers (otherwise they WOULDN'T be plug'n'pray).

You can watch Max Headroom, at least, on TechTV, just in case you didn't know.
How much do you want to bet it will be with extremely restrictive licensing, will be incomplete, or both?
Yes, I know. It was just a joke -- laugh.

This isn't new.. I've seen CDs like this before.
I don't think 64kbit WMA's are acceptable, though. (That's how most of these things come)
Microsoft just hides it.
You see the problem.
