  1. Marketing on New Music Boss, Worse Than Old Music Boss · · Score: 3, Insightful

It's quite simple - in online, you have to handle your marketing yourself. If you just replace old model with new one, but keep old way of doing things, sorry, it won't fly. Online gives posibility to compete a lot more bands than old system. And in result of course you get less money. Don't like it? Then try to stick with old system. Didn't like it too? Do pros and cons then and see what's working for you.

Also sorry, while I recognize that artists should get something about their efforts - but only then if their art is "consumed". There's tons of music out there. Tons of CC (lot of them really good ones). And it's a pitty, but some of artists can crunch really high class stuff without any sweat, but some has to do lot of pushing. So maybe it's not worth then.

Come on, where's the problem?

Or current regime is not capitalism, but some kind of twisted "we all do right thing unless we doesn't like the outcome" in all cases (there are valid reasons when gov. have rights to say "stop", but this is not one of them).

And in the end, it's just code, tweak it more closer to GNOME 2 behavior (no matter how useless I think would be).

Problem is that old school educators are stonewalling any efforts of "self education", because they afraid to loose their jobs. And unfortunately, they don't care about children. And no, it's happening all over the world. Computers can be and should be used to educate children - it is simply more effective - if done right. And to do it right is quite simple. Either it is old physical server at data center, but mostly it is virtual server instance at huge system, or even a shared host (not very wise idea if you are about getting tons of visitors, but for startup - it all matters how much it cost).

You probably won't like the truth but IT *finally* helps common crowd to deal with their business - and it cuts their costs too. Yep, medium and high level sysadmins will be needed. Also there will be need for virtualisation gurus. But if you are in small administration, then you should understand that change is happening.

In fact, I don't worry about admins. Because as far as I know admins are most adaptive people from IT sector.

    After that - now what?

Do you really there is guarantee that my song is so good that anybody would buy it? It's a *risk* - that's why it is luxury good, not first necessity stuff. People will always buy bread, they will pay their phone bills so they can call for help, for their relatives, etc. But do they need my song? It is never clear.

What's happening here is that movie industry are trying to force laws to be written to minimize that risk even more. They are the most protected industry in the world - and they still make fraction of the other industries.

So in nutshell, yes, there would be less entertainment - but higher in quality. Banks who finances this stuff would have to accept less profits. Producers would have to accept that they will have two or three cars, not seven. So what - it is end of the world? No, it is sanity and balance.
