"demanded $48 from him to access his own scientific paper" Tell the story, leave out the sensationalism. The site didn't demand anything, and don't act like the author expected to automatically download it because he wrote it. If they are selling it without permission, just say so and don't add this nonsense. /. editors should not have posted this rendition of the story.

  7. Re:Content Should Be Free on DoubleClick Warns Against Ad-Blocking Browsers · · Score: 0

That's a great idea. Who wants to earn a profit for their hard work on a website? Heck, who even wants to break even for their hosting bill? Sites like Google should be a charity service to all the people of the world, taking no profit from text ads and paying the millions of dollars in server bills out of their pocket.

  8. Web Advertising on DoubleClick Warns Against Ad-Blocking Browsers · · Score: 0

If a highly trafficked site doesn't directly sell a product, it is essential that it brings in revenue from some advertising souce. If browsers put an end to banner advertising, sites will have no choice but to move to more intrusive, and annoying methods. Moving flash ads, forced full page ads, audio ads, etc. For every ad medium that is blocked, a newer, more annoying medium will be introduced.

Funny you should say that. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but actual food critics (as opposed to anonymous cowards) have rated Chipotle quite highly. Your statement is not backed up in the least bit, so I won't even bother starting to tell you why you're wrong.

You're kidding right? Macs don't need an SP2 equivalent because the limitations are built right in! I have been forced to use macs on and off for some time now and the "simple" interface is nothing more than a way to frustrate the intermediate to advanced computer user. I'd rather use Windows ME than be forced to operate on a Mac machine. Don't even get me started on how everything at Apple is marked up at least 25% for their cutsie marketing campaigns, and the fact that you can't by Mac systems from anyone but Apple. I guess if you don't care about money, or being able to use more than 10% of the applications that exist, then go ahead and make the Switch!

Microsoft in the Living Room? Thanks but I'd prefer not to see "Windows encountered an error" messages while watching my Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVDs. Do I want to send a detailed error report to Microsoft? Hmm, so they can see that i've been watching and make me feel like they will do something about it? No. I'll stick with my $60 DVD player, and dreams of affording a TIVO later on. But as for Microsoft in the living room, I'll take a pass.

Firstly, Mcdonalds owns 90% of Chipotle, but they have nothing to do with the food there, nor did they have anything to do with founding Chipotle. Their ingredients are all exceptionally high in quality, and taste. Their guacamole for instance rivals that of anywhere else i've tasted. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion though. I've never tried Freebirds because it seems to only be located in Texas. Anyway, the post was not about Chipotle, and you seemed to have missed the fact that it was completely a joke.
