why not create a freebsd-based distribution, or maybe even an OS designed from scratch for the desktop? you have the resources to do so much. what made you choose linux?

just what i was looking for. i need something for http/ftp/print/etc server. and also something for a freebsd firewall, a full computer would be too much.
15 bucks is a lot anywhere for a cd! personally, i don't think it's justified to spend that much on a cd that maybe has 1 or 2 songs worth listening too.
that's why i like online music stores where you can get singles for $1. something like this could really kick of in russia, not sure what the internet usage is over there though.
Right now, I think removing it would be the best thing for Slackware as it's become a maintainance nightmare (unlike nearly every other./configure'ed source, GNOME doesn't build into packages easily with DESTDIR).
now even i thought slackware's packaging system was sufficient (despite what others say), but if you are building and packaging by relying on DESTDIR, you really do need a change in the packaging system.
Now it makes you wonder why Google registered gbrowser.com?
well, gmail caught so much attention to competitors and made them all increase their inbox limits. maybe they thought registering it will do the same and increase the quality of browsers on the market?
ok probably none of this is true. just a thought that came to my mind though:)
i think i should remind everyone, this patent is not on the FAT filesystem itself, but the VFAT extension for long file names. (which, if you know how it works, is nothing innovative)
is there any other way to install other than ISO? i want to test it out, would be nice if there was another option, at least install from fat partition or something.
Works from here, Vancouver Canada too.
:)
i sure wish we could vote
can anyone thing of any disadvantages of this? whatever you are doing in public, you probably wouldn't mind if someelse recorded it on camera.
as long as this isn't used in private places, such as a doctor's office, or the local changeroom, i don't think this is a bad idea at all.
it already has gnome 2.8, but still ships with xfree86 as shown in the package list

that is, by far, the worst joke i've ever heard :)

good job AMD (if it runs FreeBSD)!
in canada, sony has had stores for long time. there is one here in vancouver in a mall in the suburbs, not news (at least not to us).

why would i want to give my phone/address/etc information, to do a beta test, for a linux distribution that isn't even free!
I switched it into G.W.Bush Mode, and ended up with a big charcoal sphere :-P
impressive! when i tried in Bush mode, i didn't even get a sphere!
if( blah = true ){ // common single equal sign mistake
i've ran into this many times, luckily, gcc puts out a warning suggesting to put parentheses around this.
this way, you know that either you need 'if (blah == true)' or 'if ( (blah = true) )'
take a look at the specs. at $1699, this is a ripoff. you're paying for eye candy basically.
i can make a MUCH better computer for that price.
nyud cache going in circles for some reason :+( :
here
seriously? you see money as the biggest problem?
... including shipping, etc, would you buy it?
;)
be honest, if this bike was $50
PS: good luck trying to find someone who want to ride with you on this thing
this is excellent!
fred flinstone would be VERY proud!
anyone know if the 3.8 ghz chip will be for socket 478? or just for 775? i couldn't find any info on this.
note how the red areas are somewhat similar to the light areas on the nasa night map

You know that was a joke, right? Right?
/. just put it in the 'its funny, laugh' section.
did you read the article? after reading it, didn't seem much like a joke to me.
too many items . i feel one heck of a shipping cost.
although it may be cheaper to drive there and pick up yourself, if you live not too far from NC.
well, i wouldn't worry about that, should be only a fraction of the bid, currently at $5100

try and play doom3 on a radeon 9200 . that should scare you away from video games for a few weeks.

apparently, they don't have a 'banana-sized' connection :(
