If Google were to display results from sites the Chinese government blocks, computer users would end up clicking on links that lead nowhere -- something the search engine has always tried to avoid.
ok, so couldn't google offer an option to NOT block out these sites? maybe the Chinese would use some sort of caching system to view this sites instead (coral?, google?), or maybe they just want to see what IS available
Hydrogen is obtained either from fossil fuels such as natural gas or by applying electrical power to water molecules. Ecologically, the problem of finding a regenerating source of primary energy remains.
let's see now if you can develop the world's cheapest car;)
who here really uses hotmail as their primary account? ever since MS took over they have been the worst email service ever. eg, when you click on a link, it opens with a hotmail frame.
my teacher used it to send homework to our class, it wouldn't work because it only allows a maximum of 1 mass mailings.
do people not know about other options such as yahoo? or do people don't care?
how dense can the fog particles be? this camera would have to have an extremely large resolution to do this kind of thing. anyone have any specs on this?
the uses for this are endless, eg, if the technology becomes cheap enough, we can have this in cars to help driving during foggy weather.
Those whose copies are found not to be genuine will be encouraged to go back to the company from whom they bought the PC or software upgrade. They'll also be given other information on obtaining genuine software before being allowed to download whatever software they were seeking. In its current form, the program offers no particular benefit for those who are running licensed software.
we really need to scrap 90% of the distributions out there, there are way too many, and out of the mainstream ones, we only need a few (less than a dozen, if not even less)
i'm not trying to flame, but people waste their time creating a distro, most of them with nothing special/different to offer, it's like reinventing the wheel over and over again.
slackware, debian, gentoo, fedora, suse, mandrake, and maybe a few others that offer something good, that's all we really need.
first problem is that you think a motion sensor light will do something. it won't.
secondly, i think a car alarm should do something, why didn't it work? was she not home? could she not hear it? if you tell us, we can find a solution for it.
oh yeah, get one of those steering wheel 'clubs', they help deter criminals (at least from stealing the car)
i am not planning to see F911 at all. i saw bowling for columbine, and some of the things he said (especially about canada, eg, number of guns) are just BS.
anyways, i'm already anti-bush, i don't need a movie to convince me of it.
you can ensure that your readers can still access a certain web page or files, when the multitude of readers would otherwise overload the website and make the content unavailable.
well apparently all html content, including files, will be cached. this is a great way to get around downloading from snail-pace sites, (although i will be checking md5sums)
also, using optipng you can make it smaller, so png's are almost always smaller (fair comparison is if they are both 8-bit since that's only what gif supports)

ok, yes, doom 3 has some pretty high sys requirements to run smoothly, but isn't this going a wee bit overboard?

i can now find a porn distributor in MY area, not halfway across the country.
Not quite accurate "We will add at least one more beta (BETA6)to accomodate testing."
where did you get this info from?
the schedule only shows up to beta5, then a release candidate.
he also could have said 'flash cards are non-volatile, while DDRM is volatile'
i can imagine it, Darl will still be ranting on about IBM in his old-folks home, while shaking his walking stick.
:/
btw, does he have any children to carry on his evil legacy? wouldn't want it to be a family tradition.

oooooh, i'm shaking in my pirate boots!
What we need is... a bounty on /. dups...
/. ;)
the reward?... free lifetime subscription to

india and china's economy growth is booming :)
no really. it's true.
and i was always telling everyone from the start, download your porn in png format.
here is the yahoo quote, as always, they're going down.
i'm sorry to hear that :(

i like the mascot of freebsd, always a good motivator, and heavily underrated.

seems like the colors aren't half as bad as it.slashdot.org, i'm happy :)
I would have preferred something that would support more formats, such as xvid, ogg vorbis, etc.
divx would be nice too, but there would be a licensing issue.
Captain: Mr. Scott, give me full power
Scotty: It's no good Captain, I cannot reach the control panel
As long as they own the copyright they can license it however they want. They can even dual license it, GPL and/or Firstborn.
GNU argues that when someone contributes code into the code, the original code can no longer relicense it.
personally, i don't think this is ethically acceptable, and probably wouldn't hold up in court, unless the amount of code is substantial
links should be (and usually are) relative, eg:
img src="img/logo.png"
not:
img src="http://slashdot.org/img/logo.png"
or whatever so this shouldn't be a problem
