Zelda II has no business on that list. TMNT II or III was far better than Zelda II. That one was not up to par with the rest of the series. Otherwise, I like that list a lot. It captures that variety of titles that I liked on NES.
It was inspired by a story how young people prefer Instant Messaging to email, and old people still used email.

Unless one of the countries wipes out everyone else, the only way to win is to get to Alpha Centauri, and the tech tree is not nearly devloped enough at the moment. The space race is just the preliminaries for the real race.
Boo. Boo. Boo.
You had humor within your hands, and you gave it up.
Your true sense of humor lives. And you marry another. Humor saved Slashdiddly in the Fire Swamp, and he treated it like garbage. And that's what he is, the King of Refuse. So bow down to him if you want, bow to him. Bow to the King of Slime, the King of Filth, the King of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo.
I'm solidly middle class right now (or at least my family is, I'm in college and helping to bring them down at the moment. It all gets paid off, assuming a few engineering jobs remain in English speaking nations) I have a beat up old truck, no cell phone, no plane of any kind, a dorm room with a roommate, and no vases at all. A cell phone is probably within my price range, but I'd rather buy a few cds or a video game every month. I supose you are so middle class with your fine suburban home and I don't know how you manage with only a Cessna. You're rich, man, and you don't even realize it. I'm probably better off than a lot of people myself. I get to go to a public college, and that is beyond the reach of a lot of people from my high school. You are fairly close to the ultra super mega rich yourself, compared to a lot of people.
In Minnesota, you can get your learners permit at age 15 after 30 hours of instruction through a driving school, a cost of 200-300 dollars, though none of that is how to actually drive a car. It's mostly worthless, lots of videos of second tier celebrities telling you not to drink and drive. Then, review the packet of laws they gave you and take a half hour test, if the line is short. That cost 18 dollars a few years back. Then, after 6 hours instruction in car (mine was 3 sessions) on basic driving, downtown city, and then highway, and you can take the full test the day you turn 16. That costs 20-30, I don't remember. After that you can drive without restrictions, though recently you cannot be on a cell phone while the vehicle is in motion until age 18. Insurance costs usually skyrocket after that, as young people are notorious for smashing cars into trees and other cars. (My Father crashed his Dad's car before getting out of the alley where it was parked, the first weekend he had his license, while my Grandpa was out of town. He spent the whole weekend thinking about running away from home.) I wish they would extend that to age 100, but that seems unlikely as almost everyone but me does it.
The web site that exactly matches my company name has been registered since 2001, which is before I legally registered my company
IANAL, but that statement seems to say that you have lost. Because he got it first, before you legally registered your company name, you are probably out of luck.
Still, this is a broad patent and will have serious implications if those 100 start seeing dollar signs. Microsoft could be target #1 and while I've heard rumors of Eolas vowing not to go after FOSS infringers -- like Mozilla -- all bets are off once the greed fever takes hold.
Usually for lawsuits like that they go after the money. Mozilla, Opera, and the also rans have precious little money, not enough to sue over. Unless one of them does something to enrage Eolas, I'd imagine MS will be the only target for the near future.
I'm glad my university freely distributes thumb drives, so I don't blow out my data during ul/dl. I keep mine in my wallet as well. The reason I use the thumb drive is to avoid premature removal. However, I'm posting on/., and an engineering student, which means there isn't any ul/dl to speak of.
It's possible. However, the nerds may be at risk for couter-attack when they pause the game to go to the devloper forums whining that 'this game doesn't keep score, i wanna know my stats to show people how much i r0x0rz terrorists' and 'OMFG IEDs are sooo cheap they ruin the game couldn't you make them easier to see?'
It's a lot crisper design overall, I like it, the new post comment box might have too much blank space (Does my URL and email really need 4 lines total?) and the ugly colored sections are still ugly, but at least now they can be de-uglyified with ease.
Yeah, fansubs are fairly common. It's the japanese version with fan made subtitles added in, but you've been told that already. Another one I really like is the One Piece one, as that series got messed up for the transition to Saturday Morning Cartoons. Any blood, swearing, smoking, drinking, and a bunch of critical plot elements got taken out for American audiences. Google for Kaizoku-Fansubs if you're still interested.
I just saw the fansub of Advent Children last night, and I had my proveribal socks rocked off. It puts the Matrix to shame in cool fights and chase scenes. Cloud riding his motorcycle in a slide while blocking bullets with his sword looks pretty great. I haven't even played FF7, and I was impressed.
So yeah, I recommend the fansub entirely. I'll assume you all know how to find a copy.
A Cash cow for Nintendo without forcing Nintendo to actually create innovative gameplay for a revolutionary game.
Are you seriously telling me that you think a game where the sole point is to raise a dog using a handheld system with a touch screen and microphone ISN'T INNOVATIVE? It may not be your cup of tea, but it is innovative, at the very least.
The Metroid Demo proved it was possible, but no one has made a really good FPS yet. I won't buy EA's ruination of GoldenEye, but the real Goldeneye / Perfect Dark would be pretty nice to have. Quake, Unreal, CS, anything would be nice, as Metroid keeps getting delayed.
There are many ways to profit. You can undercut your competiton in quality and price and make it up in volume, (Wal*Mart, Dell) you can establish a brand name that makes your product more valuable (Ambercrombie, Microsoft) or you can try and establish a brand loyality (Apple, Ford & other car manufacturers).
Each company has chosen it's path to "Maximum" profit. Would apple make more by selling these for cheap, but making them seem less desirable to the gadget hounds? Would Wal*Mart make more by not treating their workers like month old bagels, increasing customer service but also increasing costs? Enough rhetorical questions, just pointing out that there are many ways to profit (and more to lose money)
In conclusion the hydrogen economy is uneconomical
In today's market conditions, yes. However, oil prices will continue to rise. The tree huggers may not whine so much when their precious organic food triples in price because of shipping costs. In the short term hydrogen is not profitable, but as the oil supply dwindles, there will be a lot of money to be made. America has an abundance of farmland/empty spaces, so solar is a possibility. Even in cities, panels could be added over parking lots and on buildings. This is not profitable at the moment, but it will be in the future as oil continues to rise in price.
Alright, I've seen the digg link a few times, and I want to respond.
Digg is not better than/.
If you think/. is a google and apple wank-fest, try digg. Currenty on the front page (among others) is a MySql vs Postgre flamewar, a DS vs PSP flamefest, the google search rack story that's on/., a seagate ad, and a google nonstory.
Plus the comments are non-threaded which makes discussion difficult, and the average number of comments is 10 to 20, half of which are one liners, and the other half are hideously unreadable. 2 or 3 of the comments are insightful. Even the trolls aren't as good at digg.
That said, Digg is now on my bookmarks toolbar. I don't comment much, but it's alright for when/. is 503 or I've read all the stories already.
I know you won't do this, but I'm gonna tell you anyways. I know I wouldn't have, had some slashdooter told me not to, but here goes anyways.
Give up now.
School is half education, half prison. The second you step out of line on a computer, for any reason, you are in serious trouble. The second you step out of line, period, you are in trouble. If you think something you've done on a computer is cool, don't tell anyone, especially a teacher, unless you are absolutely sure they understand both kids and computers.
Ignorance is Strength, at least to a school. You obviously have a gift with computers, and if you start messing around in high school and get caught, it might come back to haunt you. Because you are so skilled, you scare the staff. Their only weapon against you is to suspend you, and to ban you from using computers at school. Your parents might flip out too, and then you have zero computer time.
So yeah, don't mess with that stuff in high school. Don't ever open a command line, install firefox, anything that would make your machine stand out from the one next to you.
Everything in the typical/.er mind will want to do this same stuff. I did too, while in high school. I got in some trouble for it, I managed to talk my way out of anything serious, but still, you may not be so lucky. Put up with the man, just for now.
Excuse me? I went to a public high school, and keep your head down was not always the rule. Lockers were added along a wall where electrical outlets were, and one kid with an outlet. He brought his electric guitar to school, plugged it into his locker outlet, and rocked out between classes.
300 kids were given 3 detentions for walking out to protest the war in Iraq. Our school put on a live television show every single day. Some kids naturally keep quiet, but keep your head down was not a rule at my public school, only if you had just tagged the front sign or set off the fire alarm by throwing your shoe into a sprinkler head. (both happened)
I'm not anti home school, I'm just saying public high school is not the prison you describe it as.

I'm not questioning the idea, but listen to whatever FEMA tells you to bring, and then make sure you bring the exact opposite.

Got to get some strong horses...
Got to get them shoed...

I'll keep that in mind. I have roughly zero dollars right now (college tuition due last month) but perhaps this winter.
