    Why can't you just accept new technology and first take a look at it? It's not that the good old tree like filesystems are the best ones. They do indeed have problems. Have you ever read about data modelling? Have you studied some papers about that? Obviously not, otherwise you would know what the current state of data representation is. Hierarchical systems are indeed some of the worst if it comes to expressive semantics. There are new concepts outthere, trying to solve those problems, and, yes, they come along with a new paradigm.

    If you are too lazy to learn and accept new paradigms, you don't deserve to be a geek.

    I got one simple example that is very hard to organize. Manga/anime. How do you name the file? Japanese name? Japanese but in roman characters? Translated name? Official licensed translated name? I can always use locate (I store mine on a linux san) but that requires me to know the name. I can't search for a series "about a boy visited by a goddess" I need to search for "ah! my goddess" "oh! my goddess" "ah! megami-sama" etc etc. The only common character is the !

    Google is a clean interface, and searching etc. I don't search my emails - I really think people should realise that email is not a storage format, and you should increase the signal:noise by extracting pertinent information into a real format.

    Absolutely no one in 1950 had an inkling of what the computer would do to society in fifty years. Looking at the history of science fiction, you see that while on occasion a few skilled authors make an accurate prediction or two, the vast majority of speculative sci fi fails dramatically to come close to reality.

    Many "worst movies of all time" lists tend to not include the absolute worst ones ever made. Many obscure poorly done films are overlooked, and instead these lists will only put in the bad films that will be remembered. In fact, we could sum most of these lists up to be really lists of 3 things: 1) most disappointing hyped-up films, 2) most memorable bad films, and 3) worst recent films.

    1.Abundant and still latent talented English speaking IT workforce
    2.Upcoming Quality of workforce
    3.Democracy and approachable govt policies.
    4.Already Established.

    I've got a 3 year old $400(CDN) Peugeot mountain bike I bought just for casual riding at the time. This year I've gotten quite a bit more serious and have taken part in a number of cross-country relay races. Up until about a month ago, I was constantly looking at the 'other guys' $4000+ machines and trying to plan how and when I would upgrade.
