this really isn't anything new, we've been doing it for quite some time, in the
Radio Control world,
just check out http://tinywireless.com
and any RC group
forum
(fun stuff!)
although, it takes slightly more control than just click on a point on a map.
forget about pirates of the carribean, that's old news, today it's the haunted mansion! (don't you know anything?) check your local listings for info (lol)
neither would the smaller companies who would need to purchase certificates, or people who ran individual ones. (and once a workaround gets in place, all that is worthless anyways)
If the solution is worse than the problem itself, then it's not a solution:)
Just because someone is visually impaired does not mean that they cannot enjoy activities a sighted person can.
What about a ballgame for instance... Actually Watching is only a portion of the whole experience. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, the smell of popcorn, the taste watered down beer, spending time with family and friends.
I'm guessing that you're the kind of person who doesen't own a radio, because you have a tv, or always have to have the newest and the best of everything, cause god forbid, you miss any nuance'. Try enjoying the full of life, and enjoy what you do have, instead of whining that you don't have it all, or someone else might have more..
a possibile workaround could be, an audio version of the 'key' along with the graphic. using slightly distorted audio, it could bypass any voice recognition software, as the slightly distorted graphic would bypass any OCR.
and worse case scenerio the few blind people without speakers (there may be some, with braille readers, or some other non-audio reader) could send an e-mail, that could be humanly determined wether it was a generated submittal..
(My father is legally blind, and uses readers also)
Once of the things I've always enjoyed about irc, is you have to have at least some intelligence to be there. (in most cases, or at least know someone with intelligence to walk you through it)
Although this has been dropping significantly in recent years, (java based web chat's) it still has been at least a few drops of chlorine in the online gene pool. Anyone who has been on AOL's chat, and on IRC can verify.
Gee I can't wait.. 10 billion script kiddies flooding the undernet. (what joy! typing !seen wazzabi, and get flooded off with 'I don't know who wazzabi is')
IRC Hint number 1> if you don't know what it is, don't use it, go back to your AOL chat room.
quite odd, they've developed it for everything from the vic-20 to the Nintendo, to the
Co-co, wonder why they don't have it for the TIc? Oh, that's right.. It must be because the TI-99/4a has a 16 bit processor, and it's only for 8 bit systems.. (yes folks, the TI was the first 16 bit
'Home Computer' but due to bad coding, Bad marketing, (sorry Bill
Cosby) and the fear of loss of money, it never went far with TI, but just check out the following, (including a 32 bit upgrade path)

but think of it this way.. even we could figure it out.. where could we store that information? we'd need a computer the size of the universe, with each particle being able to store the information for 1 particle in it.
(or is that the way it really is.. and we just live in... the matrix:)
Most places I've seen dsl, you don't need to have an active phone line/Phone service.. I had dsl before, even after my phone got disconnected, (oops, forgot about that bill) it mattered not.. the phone service was never turned back on, even after paying it off, I had a cell I primarily used and never an issue.. I can't say definatively they would have turned it on, without active phone service, but they never asked, any of the times, or companies I've had dsl with (which is many)
ok.. I realize that chess is a very complex game.
I realize that for decades they've been been trying to create a chess computer that can consistantly beat the best human players.
but my 1 question is.. even with the googleplex, or how ever many possible game combinations there are, why is it impossibile with todays computing and storage power, to create a computer that has every possibile game, in it's memory/storage. and barring all else, choose the appropriate path to checkmate, based on the other players moves? (Isn't that somewhat what the chessmasters do, themselves, based on experience, and insight, choose the best patterns of moves to win?)
I realize that isn't really 'computing' and it's just following a set path, based on input variables, but comeon.. you're telling me, we can trace a molecule's path back to the big bang, and we can't figure out every possibile chess game?
will someone who knows more about chess than me, answer, and set my mind at ease?
ah, but you don't need your local company to provide dsl (well, you might depending on your area) all you need is their wires.. but check with other ISP's in the area. For instance, in
quite a bit of NY state, Logical Net provides DSL service, and they simply use
verizon's (or your local bell's) wiring (for a meager fee) and boom, you have lovely
DSL, without even talking to your
all powerful bellco
Then, there's Roadrunner, and other cable
modems, as you all know, but if you can't get ANY other high speed, there's
always sattelite. (and if you can't get that,
you should probally move somewhere that has power.
<Soapbox>
Any way about it, I have vonage, and it's a
Wonderful thing.. it's cheaper than any other phone company.. (oops, did I say
that?) umm.. base station land line telecommunications service, (IP or
otherwise) you can hook up regular phones, answering machines, fax machines,
anything with a phone jack! (non-vonage sponsored faq, and cheap plug for referrals)
Not to mention you can keep your regular phone number, equipment, etc..
(FYI, if you use a refferal, you get an extra month
free, instead of going directly to vonage:) Where else can you get a true to life 800 number for a couple extra bux a month?
</Soapbox>
ok.. I'm done now..
(yeah, I know, you already knew most of that anwyays...)
well, actually their dns sucks, their registration of domains is mediocre, their whole company sucks, but too many people use it, cause they don't have a choice, or don't know any better
Verisignsucks.com is apparently already registered I have 3 times tried to register this non-registered domain, and the first 2 times were denied without cause. finally took on the 3rd time though..
I have never been denied registration of a valid non-registered domain before.
Can anybody figure out why?
anyways, I think it's up now.. (as soon as I fix the DNS)
sure, what THEY consider useful information, personally, I find error pages quite a bit more useful than spam. if I want to do a search engine for somthing, I'll do it myself, no thanks, I don't need your help.

(Whap!)

Ja - just like some of the people I work for nicknamed L-Users
and don't forget about harpo, who also very efficiently communicated with whistling..

Every time somebody mentions running somthing new on somthing old, or not meant for it, SOMEBODY mentions Hey! Let's Cluster them!

Looks like I'm gonna have to put my verisign-sucks.net back up.. (odd.. wonder why it's down?)
well sure we can.. 1 at a time :D

Maybe they were testing the water cooled system, and sprung a leak, and slashdotted themselves.

it's a software thing, that you can change from tools, options, advanced turn off 'search from toolbar'
there are also other TLD's who have done this, but none to this extent. none that screw up the internet the way verisign has.
http://verisign-sucks.net
Verisignsucks.com is apparently already registered

no, that's just a 'feature' of internet explorer. (if you could call it that)
it's called 'search from the address bar, it's an option under tools, options, advanced.
it does the same type of thing (baybe that's where they got the idea.)
yes, very true, but microsoft did it, as well as they could..
.com and .net should be removed from verisign's authority. (mebe THAT'll learn em..)
I believe that as punishment for doing this,
I seem to remember certain 'default' browser settings, that would automaticly re-direct unknown queries to a related MSN search page.
sure, what THEY consider useful information, personally, I find error pages quite a bit more useful than spam. if I want to do a search engine for somthing, I'll do it myself, no thanks, I don't need your help.
isn't VMware a wonderful thing?
