Why do people keep assuming that all developers need is an IDE? What about their instant messaging client, their e-mail client, RSS reader, etc? Not to mention web developers who can put all their development tools on one screen and a browser (or 4) on the other.
First of all, I didn't know that was a requirement, link? Second of all, you don't need your own AS to multi-home. You can have two carriers announce your address space for you.
But don't we have evidence of warming and cooling periods that have lasted hundreds (thousands?) of years? You can point at the industrial revolution but correlation != causation, and all that.
(4) how about both? just be even moderately successful at your job and have fantastic healthcare. the problem with healthcare in the US is a lack of coverage due to cost (read: poor cant afford coverage), it has nothing to do with availability or quality. And while I think we definitely need to reform healthcare, I'm sure not having any problems in the mean time. Mod me down as a troll if you want, but that's the reality.
So in summation, I think I'll take "freedom of health" (whatever that means) and "freedom of speech".
So if 15 years is too short, then by your own admission we don't really know if the earth is warming? Sure you could say "but it could be!" and I would agree with you. The question is, what do we do to fix it and what does it cost us in the short and long term, to hedge against, what you openly admit, is an uncertain bet?
Maybe not but none the less, the dream of thin client computing in the form of remote desktops seems a distant dream that is thankfully dead.
Maybe in the linux world, but in the corporate world it's alive and well. Between VMWare View, Citrix Presentation Server and Citrix XenDesktop people are deploying thin clients en masse.
AS number is not required for portable address space. Only if you want to peer directly, yourself. You could easily just take your address space with you and provide the next ISP with an LOA to announce the address space for you via their AS.
I'd like to think in 2011 software would be updated automatically and near-instantly in the event of a security bug. We were supposed to have jetpacks and flying cars by now for christ's sake...
You should be more concerned about malware that will steal personal information, not malware that will totally bork your machine. It's not 1996 anymore.
I think we're forgetting the fact that while not all students can afford an $800 lump payment many can afford to drink $20 less in beer a month. Basically Google is offering free financing on a laptop with a $20/mo payment. That's a pretty killer deal.
If you really believe that republicans are evil and democrats are good I honestly think you've got the intellectual capacity of a 13 year old who only understands cowboys vs indians.
You realize the 2500K is a quad core CPU right? And you understand the concept of preemptive multitasking right? So explain to me how you came to the conclusion that for most consumer use-cases that 6 slower cores are better than 4 faster cores?
if you want to cherry pick really low utilization use-cases how about we compare AES performance? the reality is for 99% of consumers the intel chip will absolutely blow AMDs offerings out of the water. dollar for dollar, watt for watt or any other metric you'd like to use.
Microsoft would disagree with your assessment. The lack of a single place to find/buy/install apps was a huge failure in the Microsoft ecosystem. One they've identified and attempted to remedy. If you think Microsoft gained a dominate market position on the desktop because of the ease of finding and installing apps you might want to brush up on your history.
I have a storm2 (before that an original storm1) and it's the biggest piece of shit ever. and everything you said is wrong, the battery life is awful compared to my old blackberrys (ive had 6510, 7510, 7520, 8830, etc) and the call quality is the worst of any phone I've ever used in my life. It's a complete joke. i've got an iphone4 on the way that i'm going to demo until they activate 4g in my area and I plan on switching to an htc thunderbolt. with any luck this will be the last blackberry i ever have to use.
I think you're only considering the short term. RIMs market share has been shrinking dramatically over the course of the last couple years, at a truly alarming rate.
What security features do you use in BES that you can't get with iOS and a MDM platform? Honestly curious. I connect iOS devices to our network using IPSec VPN (Cisco ASA 5500). That's pretty darn secure as far as I'm concerned. Is that not adequate security for you?

peer using a private AS with your ISP(s) and announce your address space to them. (RFC1930 in section 10)

Only if they are rich enough to travel to a developed nation for treatment.

Calling someone ELSE a nerd in slashdot comments is the greatest irony one can commit on the internet.

Or even better, a dwm user.

Then it's not a "switch port", at least in Cisco parlance. It's a "routed port" or "layer 3 interface". The command is literally "no switchport".

1) hide in plain sight 2) the closer he is the easier they can protect him
not that I believe the pakistanis had anything to do with hiding him, but who doesn't love a good conspiracy theory?

The statistics from every market research firm on the planet contradicts your anecdotal evidence by at least 3:1.

So you can circumvent the security by doing exactly what they were trying to do to begin with? I don't get it.
