Ahem, this will probably have Netflix functionality as did the original Wii, and as for that matter, Netflix on the Wii U apparently displays in HD. It sounds like the Wii U will have two video outputs on it, HDMI and S-Video. Not sure if you'll be able to watch movies on the Wii U controller though. That'd be a plus if you could.
Exactly, Motorola sees Motoblur as something of a social media app that's locked into the phone when in fact Twitter and Facebook make fine apps on their own (thank you very much) and package them with some phone's firmware. In my case, it's an LG P509 on T-Mobile. Why in god's name won't Moto allow Twitter and Facebook's own apps on their phones? It just doesn't make sense.
If I'm not mistaken, Android versions 2.1 and up are supposed to have tethering functions built in, and what's to keep you from using those? The carriers can't simply 'break' Android just for the sake of keeping customers from making use of the tethering functions, that would be illegal.
"Yes, this tablet is good but it needs a keyboard."
"Ah, yes, this keyboard is fine, but it needs a real OS."
"Whoa, this OS is killing the battery, what this needs is a big ol' battery and a charger brick to charge it."
"My hand is getting tired with all the pinching and zooming. I need a good touchpad and sometimes a good mouse."
So we're just reinventing the laptop. Great. Turns out doing something productive on a tablet is borderline impossible.
And that's exactly what it is, according to one of the photos in the linked AndroidCentral article. Sounds like the designers of this thing had a '90s flashback. Nobody will want to add the keyboard (which is optional) to this thing and deter from the tablet form factor, it's just plain STUPID!!
Kinect on the XBox is the swan song that is driving people away from Wii. Take the fact that you don't have do hold anything in your hand to play the games, and add the fact that Kinect also adds voice activation and video networking, and you've got quite an incentive to switch. Lets not forget that games on the XBox are displayed in HD.
There are some devices for which component video is the only connection method (think smaller TVs, early model HD camcorders) and this thing is gonna' make those seem somewhat archaic. You think Hollywood really wants that on its record? I think not!
Not sure if this was possible without this hack, but one could record audio through the headset jack as is possible in the Sony PSP's headset jack. An iPhone could easily replace a Tascam/Marantz field cassette recorder. (remember those, from the '70s and '80s?)
NBCU's news properties: MSNBC, CNBC and the Weather Channel would be a no brainer for the XBox since there would be so much interactive content involved with these channels. Just think of being able to queue up local on the 8's or instant stock quotes anytime you want, all without having to be at your PC or using your mobile. The Weather Channel could even display weather alerts that appear while you're playing a game or viewing other content on the XBox.
Yep, SD cards, memory sticks and the like, at their current size limits, have made SCSI and their brethren pretty much obsolete. Leave us not forget how easy it is to share the stuff we carry on these media via Pogo Plugs and other NAS devices and the cloud in general. We've come a long way dude!
I remember that one, little plastic balls with clockwork in them that you connected together to make somewhat functional things. Very popular in the mid 80's.
and package it with the Xbox 360. That would send the price of the Xbox 360 up the wazoo, not to mention make for some major packaging and shelving difficulties.
Windows Phone 7 is pretty much a first generation operating system. There are bound to be kinks like this. I'm sure there's some undocumented bug in Windows Phone 7 that affect its handling of flash memory. Just let this blow over a little while, it'll be fixed in short order, I'm sure.
So M$ thinks that the Zune/Xbox duopoly gives them license to try the phone thing again, fine with me. Problem with that is that such operating system really doesn't harbor a phone as well as it does the other stuff. They should have gone the MID route like Apple did (ie: iPod Touch). If they really wanted to turn this thing into a "phone", put qik or Skype on it for crying out loud!
Can the WHDI signal be interfered with in any way? What if someone in your garage starts their car or someone is operating an appliance of some kind in the house. Wouldn't that cause interference like it does with satellite TV or with old-fashioned antenna hook-ups? I remember having to install interference filters on my TV, and there were two kinds. One was attached to your TV's antenna and the other to your TV's power line. My dad used these a lot on our TV at our house in Ohio back in the late 70s and early 80s. Not sure if you can even get these any more except for satellite TV hookups.
Some of these broadcasts have made their way to FM though, especially in rural areas. Radio stations in metro areas have relatively dipped their toes into broadcasting news/talk/sports programming on FM. Some broadcasters in metro areas use the open HD subcarrier 'real estate' of FM stations to re-broadcast AM news/talk/sports radio stations owned by them. Too bad there's a dearth of hand-held HD FM receivers out there, with the Microsoft Zune HD being the most well known.
Sounds like you voted for Barack Obama too, didn't ya'? Studios will NOT go bankrupt as long as the economy can stay afloat. PALIN IN 2012! PALIN IN 2012! PALIN IN 2012! PALIN IN 2012!:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O:O
Several websites I deal with won't even work with Chrome, Bleacher Report and the PogoPlug GUI are a couple of 'em. Don't know why I even left FireFox in the first place. Geez!
Or perhaps there are so many darn iterations of Android out there, some of which are so long in the tooth that they probably shouldn't bother trying to run Flash anyway. Motorola doesn't help with their Cliq XT still running Android 1.5, such a neanderthal it is. If only TMobile would get off their high horse and put Froyo out for crying out loud!!:(:(:(
Gowalla fit in the midst of all these recent goings on? Haven't heard much about them lately. Maybe either Foursquare or Facebook or both should go after them, considering how seemingly unimportant they are these days.
My Android (a Motorola CliqXT) has an FM radio, but unfortunately no HD capability, so it's sorta' crippled. I use it mostly to listen to sports radio stations when I'm at a game. I only use it for music when I'm out of cell range and Pandora/LastFM wont work. Still comes in quite handy for stuff like that.
Same here with my Moto Cliq XT. This thing runs warm most of the time and that's when I can tell that it's snarfing up the battery like hell. It's still a nice phone though.
"Just plays games."

Nothing to see here. Move along. :)

There is clearly a typo in the summary, this is a KDE project so it would have to be Kalligra.
Yeah! Besides, removing or toying with KOffice in any way would be sacreligious. Geez!

But by that same token, they don't let you hack their stuff anymore. :(

Or even a secondary display, do the Nook and/or Alex ring a bell?
