However, the good point of this is that I actually learned a very little bit about writing code (even in this elementary script form). As a result, it sparked my interest in learning more.

As a result, I have since learned, to about an intermediate level, JavaScript, and some of my first code (form checking) is still in use at my current company. And, as of now, I am about done with my basic C programming language course (all self study). Each and every bit of tech I have learned doing this has directly assisted me on my job, I am a researcher, product manager, technical documentation writer and software tester.

Despite my initialy painful experience, pushing through it has greatly benefitted me and my company as a result. I continue to do a lot of personal study and training in all areas of computer technology as a result.

As far as I am concerned, as practiced in the U.S. right now, you are presumed guilty until you are proven not guilty by a court of law. This area of police, courts and justice is probably one of the worst corruption of our rights as citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution. But then again, the Constitution is only a piece of paper, "we the people" are the only guarantee of these rights.

And, to have government officials sworn to "uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" allowing this, is the worst tragedy of all in this country.

Despite the distate that myself (and others, I am sure) have for politicians, they have to be written to and communicated with regarding your concerns for yours and others rights, unjust laws, etc. That is the only way that there will even be the possibility of some of this will be corrected. Now, what exact data is printed, I do not know for sure, other than the votes on a particular issue or for a particular candidate.

If no voter is tracked due to state law, then my suggestion would not work, even in my county.

I do not see a problem with a person's name, address and phone number being retained by a voting machine, with a general "40 issues or offices to vote for, 40 votes received", which would also show if 1) person actually voted at a particular machine and 2) if they "missed" voting on all, one or more, issues or offices.

There has to be a way to help find out if the was a problem with the voting machine, person didn't really understand how to use it, etc. Without being able to talk to the specific person(s) that did not vote or had a problem voting, this would be necessary to help correct the situation.

Even in the case where a person provides NO votes at all, a "Do you certify that you are casting no votes for this election?" with a "Yes" and "No" button would handle situations where a person showed up, but for some reason did not want to vote.

The voters that "did not vote" or "voted but it was not counted" should be able to be located and queried regarding that happened at the polling place. Unless there is no way to determine, from this paper printout, which exact registered and present to vote cvoters did not vote or had a problem voting, for some reason.
