Climate science is in its infancy. But climate politics are highly evolved. Ever wonder were all the commies went after 1990? Today's green is yesterday's red. It is hard to see programs like this going anywhere when a GOP congress comes to power in November.

This is only the beginning. There is widespread opposition to Obama's vacuous plan. America doesn't want to it's space legacy of the past 50 years in the hands of neophyte startups like SpaceX.

The headline ridicules this task force but has nothing to say about the Bolsheviks in the Augustine commission. Constellation was so "chronically mismanaged" that Ares 1X flew successfully as planed! How's that SpaceX Falcon 9 coming?

Like Obama's policy on Gitmo, Muslim Terror, the economy, Healthcare, etc., this new NASA policy is destined to go down in flames. It is 2 years 10 months and counting until Obama's administration blows up on the pad.

The modern liberal welfare state at its worse. The State pays the poor a pittance, and punishes them for improving there life. If you were smart you would have given her cash. By the way, people with incomes below $50K pay 2% of federal taxes in the US. Tea Partiers pay the rest. One would think you Bolsheviks would figure that out by now.

The nanny state indeed. The Obama administration is about to come to a spectacular end this fall. The country will effectively be run by a GOP congress. The only equivalent EELV launcher to the Ares is a Delta IV heavy, and it would need an expensive and dangerous fuel cross feed system between the outboard and core CBC's. The choice then is between a vehicle with 4 H2/O2 stages or a solid fuel booster and single H2/O2 upper stage. The X-38 will never be a manned vehicle unless you fancy midget astronauts.

Carry water for the Bolshevik in the Whitehouse if you want to, but don't pretend your are making sense.

Not to mention that Ares has already flown successfully, and SpaceX's Falcon 9 won't be spreading its exploded debris over the Atlantic for several months. Relying on a new industry for manned space launch is madness! SpaceX may be ok supplying the ISS, but the idea of them safely launching humans in under 10 years is preposterous.

A system like this will cut launch costs from $5,000 per pound to only $250 per pound. It won't launch people into space because of the excessive acceleration, but those guys at the ISS can use it to order pizza and real ice cream.

The ISS obital inclination is 56 degrees. Any 'ice cream delivery' made from a 0 degree inclination transfer orbit would have a relative velocity of about 7500 mph. The ice cream would effectively become an ASAT weapon.
