Instead of trying to find very specific materials to deal with the salt water...
Why didn't you just put the device in an water tight container, nice and dry... that sits on the bottom until signaled, at which point it rises to the surface, opens its lid, and out flies the dry drone.
Then you don't have to deal with all the other shit thats going to fuck with your drone and build up on it if its under water for months.
The water itself is the least of your concerns. Over a 3 month period, the salt corrosion isn't going to really be that big of a deal if you're completely submerged (less free oxygen), but the animals that attach themselves to it, build nests in/around/on it, try to eat it, shat on it, bury it... Those are the things to actually be concerned about.
So the difference is... people on the right want to piss away large amounts of money on useless things to help them from being scared of their own shadow, while people on the left want something that actually works. Must be hell going through life as a coward.
Yea, thats right... pretend that its a left vs right thing and that your side is right... thats helpful.
When you break down your argument to 'left' vs 'right', you've already lost and are just too stupid to realize it.
Just be grateful it's not FreeBSD which they they could totally embrace and not have to release any code for.
Why would I be grateful?
If they did this for FreeBSD and kept all the code private and too themselves, how am I any worse off than I am right now? What did I lose?
Whats that? I didn't lose anything because I never had that new code they wrote for FreeBSD?
What else? You're just an ignorant GPL fanboy lying about code being 'closed' and spreading FUD? Yea, I saw that already.
Games will run in VM's in a client game OS.
You want some drivers for your VMs so you can have drivers for your OS and the VM it runs in?
More virtualization IS NOT THE SOLUTION, IT IS A SYMPTOM OF THE PROBLEM. People virtualize things because their OS fails at its basic task of separating applications into their own containers. If OSes weren't such a disorganized mess (Example: Linux throws EVERYTHING into/usr/bin/usr/lib ect so everything you install has to work together or conflicts with each other, i.e. Linux is actually more of a DLLHell offender than Windows which actually HAS defined a space for non-system types of code... people still install to the system directories but its not the right thing to do.
In linux, writing to the system directories for any random binary or config... thats totally normal and expected... and pretty stupid. Maybe Linux should steal this from FreeBSD? 'man heir' on a FBSD box and learn a few things about why no one wants to write commercial software for your fanboy OS
No you need drivers for your OS so that it can work with your VM... and your hypervisor needs drivers to work with the OS it runs in... or hardware directly. So now you've just got another piece of software that needs drivers... you've just doubled your software maintenance effort and gained nothing at all except slower performance.
Good job on using a VM there, brilliant.
On an aside I am actually more surprised that VMWare hasn't tried to team up with AMD. AMD could create specialized CPU extensions that speed up Virtualization
. . . You do realize that every CPU that matters for virtualization... HAS INSTRUCTIONS TO SUPPORT VIRTUALIZATION... right? If AMD just started now... they'd be way behind... but they, just like Intel, started adding hardware virtualization support right around the 386 time period, but from the way you're thinking, hell everyone had extended page tables (which is a big speed booster for virtualization) and hardware/PCI virtualization support back in 2009... so you might even say that they did this already... YEARS AGO.
it was all over the tech sites, and everyone thought that they would revolutionize information-at-a-glance
No, idiot tech writers who don't actually know shit about tech or people trends thought it would 'revolutionize' anything.
The rest of us thought it was a shitty little under powered device locked into a shitty service and the only way to make it useful was to break it down into component parts which were far more valuable than the whole.
(Ideally, courts work off of law, legal precedent, etc. and they don't just listen to the "mob on the street"
So they work off the law until 'the mob on the street' is so loud that one judge does 'The Right Thing' and that becomes legal precedent...
Stop trying to pretend that it isn't within the judge's realm to do the right thing and ignore the law, that is what they do ALL THE TIME, EVERY FREAKING DAY.
Right or wrong, its what they do, because the rest of our government is too fucking incompetent to do so.
Nobody's going to run a second fiber network after the first one is hooked up
Except Google is doing it, and others have tried only to be stopped by lobbying of local telecom and cable companies.
TWC ALREADY has fiber on my street, its fiber to the node, not the home, but considering in this case the node is literally in my front yard, it doesn't really matter for anyone anywhere in my neighborhood... they effectively have fiber... and in a few months, we'll have Google Fiber.
Lots of places want to have competition, they just aren't allowed to.
It wasn't touch screens so much as phones that weren't ridiculously over priced calculators.
BlackBerry devices have been technically inferior from a CPU/RAM/OS perspective since the iPhone was released. They were only cool before hand because no one had email, so the shitty ass crap that BlackBerry pushed was awesome because the alternative was no email (or windows mobile, which was effectively the same:)
When the iPhone came out with a real browser and email client, the only chance BlackBerry had was to make a REAL smart phone, not that crap that had less power and resolution than a TI graphing calculator.
Then Android landed... and then there wasn't just one awesome smartphone on the market, there were hundreds... (awesome compared to the BB devices if nothing else)...
And they kept on with that shitty device that didn't get real email, got some fucked up version of a text email that they created... wasn't even just the text portion of the message, some mangled version they created from html. And web browsing... seriously. iOS has a full browser. Android has a full browser. BB had... a text based browser?
It wasn't the touch screen... lots of people wanted a physical keyboard and would have been fine with a smaller touch screen... but they did want their fucking email and web pages to look like email and web pages, and for page refreshes to not be so slow they were visible draws.
The BB devices were just pieces of shit, and even at the end of their falling apart, they were still far inferior to the competition.
The longer the half life of something, the less dangerous it is from a radiation perspective. U-238 isn't dangerous from a radiological perspective, its just a nasty chemical properties if you ingest it, nothing to do with radiation.
C-14, which is much more radiologically dangerous than U-238... isn't dangerous at all.
Pb-211 decays so quickly that as long as put it in a room by itself for a couple days, it won't be an issue either. The products that it breaks down into will, but thats another story and not what was said:) Or you could just not walk into the room naked since most of it will be alpha decay and it won't make it past your cloths anyway, let alone penetrate your skin.
Pay attention kids: Nuclear waste with really long half lives is not that dangerous. The longer lived it is, the less dangerous it is. Once it gets really short than its dangerous really if ingested since its generally alpha radiation which doesn't penetrate.
The dangerous once are the months to less than a decade half lives... Those give off gamma radiation and such, last long enough to be dangerous, and produces enough active radiation to be dangerous. But in a couple years... they're down to the point of not being dangerous any more either.
In short... when you worry about long term radiation exposure outside of a lab experiment, you're just being stupid. The nuclear event that poisoned you... would have killed you directly if you were close enough to actually get a large enough dose to definitively hurt you unless you stand around in puddles of water next to the breeched and still hot nuclear reactor trying to take selfies and not understanding why your camera pictures are saturated and useless.
With this process, one car making a mistake results in a change in behavior of all of the cars
Its funny that you assume that this will make for an improvement.
An improvement requires both correct analysis of the behavior and the right solution. Just experiencing something doesn't make you avoid it, learning has to occur.
'Correcting' that mistake at move 79 can easily turn into a total meltdown on move 81, this is the way of Go. You are silly to assume this was a (or the) mistake in the first place.
Which WERE NEVER BSD Licensed, never public, and your entire argument falls apart right there at that statement. You can't take away something you never had. They didn't 'close' something that was 'open' they mixed 'open' and 'closed' together, and you're just pissed off you can't get it for free when you, personally have made absolutely 0 contribution to it.
It would be like a free public library where no one was required to return the books.
No, Sony/BMG/MPAA (who ever you work for, they spew that shit), its not like that. One someone takes a copy of the source, the original is still there for others, so it is absolutely nothing like a library where a physical item is removed and has to come back before someone else takes it.
Source code is copied, not transferred. You're being disingenuous.
those books are now a lot less free for future users
And with source code it is still available to every other person on the planet. You're argument is total bullshit and if you don't realize that, you're not qualified to have a conversation about licensing on something that can be copied with less effort than it takes to post your response.
What you mean is that you're upset that you can't get everyone elses work for free, and that just makes you a selfish asshole. You want everyone else to do it your way so you get the benefits, fuck them and the effort they put into THEIR work.
If instead of paying a "microsoft tax" to use windows everyone has to start paying a "google tax" for the machine learning to make their computer usable then we are back where we have started from.

So STFU and stop spreading bullshit lies and misinformation. Your library analogy is utterly and completely flawed to the point that it makes you a flat out liar to even mention that BS.

Hello GPL pot... you're black... just like this proprietary licensed kettle over here.
Lets just cut the bullshit of pretending GPL is actually open in the true sense of the word any more so than Microsofts public license. You guys like to pretend its superior for its freedom... as you add restriction after restriction after restriction.
Yes, this is a troll. Doesn't make it any less true, but it is most definitely a troll.
It wasn't just some black dude in the neighborhood, it was a fight. Had he not turned around and started running his mouth or started fighting he likely wouldn't have been shot.
But no, he wasn't just 'walking through the neighborhood' when he got shot, he was in the middle of a fight HE STARTED because he didn't like what the douche bag with a gun was saying to him.
He was a cocky teenager and he got shot because of it.
He was not 'just walking through the neighborhood'.
He didn't deserve to die, but he brought it on himself when he started the fight. Treyvon wasn't innocent of all blame. Deal with it.
Indeed, that is exactly the intended effect and as a direct result, most of the time it lowers the future crime rate because that guy/gal isn't going to be committing anymore crimes after they get shot in self defense.
Thats pretty much true of anything the CDC produces.
I've seen them lie on national television about statistics that are flat out proven wrong by the actual data they have on their website! And we're talking about the flu here, not something actually important.
No one with a clue cares about the CDC or what they say.
You do realize thats where the majority of the nations economy is, right?
Do you people not have a clue about history or economics.
The Civil war wasn't just about ending slavery, had the south been allowed to leave the north would have ceased to exist in a very short period of time.
Now its even worse considering the rust belt is the way it is. California would presumably stay with 'the north' so you'd probably survive, but then you'd just be doing whatever they decided to do in San Francisco... which means in 5 years you'd have 0 taxes, unlimited social programs, and no electricity or food for any of those great things you enacted into law while lowering taxes...
You think its a good idea because you're too stupid to know how the country actually works and what makes it strong.
Let me give you a hint: In order to survive you need product, the north has no product. You can claim the business sectors of Chicago, Baltimore and NYC as product... but the only reason the stock market exists is because of the people who DO actually PRODUCE something tangible, not bits in a stream.
n one state, doctors are required to "inform" patients that having an abortion increases the risk of breast cancer (when it doesn't)
Thats fucking wrong and any doctor making that claim should have their license revoked and never be allowed to practice again.
or forces a patient to have and view a sonogram
Awe, you don't actually want to know the consequences of your actions before you do them? Too fucking bad. Look at what you're about to terminate and grow a pair or STFU and keep your dick in your pants/legs closed. (I understand not everyone is consensual, but that tiny amount is another special case and you're going to pretend its the majority in your response so again, STFU).
observe unconscionable waiting periods that may put them beyond the legal timeframes where abortion is allowed.
They only do so if the woman waited too long to make her decision... or more importantly before she even started considering the decision.
And you need to stop acting like you have a fucking clue. You have no fucking idea what its like AFTER you have an abortion that you can't take back, can't change your mind, have to live with for the rest of your life even though the way you felt before that event may be entirely different than the way you feel even the day after it happens. Abortions are not fucking outpatient procedures where you're removing a mole on your back. You are terminating a life form (we can argue semantics about consciousness at another point if you want), regardless of anything else in your life, NO ONE WALKS AWAY FROM THAT WITHOUT SCARS PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL.
It's so bad that some states now have a maximum of ONE abortion clinic, and that one is slowly being driven out of business.
Thats fucked up too.
I'm not for more gun regulation, but your abortion clinic analogy is a clear 'I'm pro choice and no one should have any right to have any say in it', and you're wrong. You may be right about being pro-choice (I'm pro-life, but I'm a man so its not my decision anyway, which kind of makes me pro-choice by proxy), but your pretending that this is not a decision that society as a whole gets to have an opinion on. They do get to have an opinion and it does turn into a group decision because it is so important to so many people.
You're using this gun control article as a pro-abortion proxy and you suck for doing so.
You have noticed that those other methods are currently not at all effective, right?
Soap box, Ballot Box, Jury Box, Ammo Box.
The soap box has failed and if you think the ballot box has any hope in hell of being useful you haven't noticed this years election cycle, and the SCOTUS has been fucking us more and more recently with bullshit like Citizens United.
Jimmy Cricket, this is the 21st century with massive amounts of global communication and you're not able to see how important this is to preventing tyranny? Did you study American history at all in school?
Fighting is a last resort, but stop being retarded and pretending people are acting like its the only choice. Some people understand history and don't like the idea of it repeating itself. I suggest a good high school course on what drove the colonization of america. Which unfortunately includes all the evil shit we did in the process which was a lot of horrible stuff don't get me wrong, but theres a DAMN GOOD REASON why American's love their guns and all you have to do is look at a history book long enough to understand it and how we're rapidly moving in that direction again.
Not there yet, but it won't be too much longer unless something changes. People are tired of the bullshit politicians.
Yes, because another service is always the solution... instead of fixing the existing one and improving it.
This is typical red hat (and a common Linux issue in general)... we don't like it so we're going to reinvent the wheel... poorly and refuse to acknowledge any problems or defects in the new version.
Sometimes you just need to put a little effort into actually working together instead of being a douchebag loan wolf who takes his toys and goes to live in the woods.
You wouldn't save any time calling in early because you don't know where you're going to stop so you can't even direct emergancy services in the right direction.
And lets actually be realistic, that 4 seconds calling earlier would save you... isn't the difference between life and death, they were dead anyway.
You people need to stop being such ignorant pansies who think you can call someone else to save you all the time. You do realize people lived and got medical attention before cell phones existed, right?
If someone has a heart attack and dies because no one could use their cell phone than the universe is working exactly as expected. Having a cell phone is a bonus, not a requirement for life.
God you people are so out of touch with reality is freaking mind blowing.
No, he's to a dick, he's just tired of assholes with no fucking manners.
MORE people should do that.
And lets be clear, he didn't disrupt anything legitimately acceptable to do on the subway, so no, he didn't even disturb the peace... he in fact, CREATED PEACE

Yes, they put the boats in dry dock once a year to scrape and repaint.

Maybe it has more to do with packing people into tight geographic areas like rats than the guns themselves
. . . yea and we had slavery at that point too . . .
Are you trying to imply because of the way things were 150 years ago that they are the exact same today .... just because they were then?
Do you understand the connection?
Context is important, helps prevent you from looking silly
Yes, because another service is always the solution ... instead of fixing the existing one and improving it.
This is typical red hat (and a common Linux issue in general) ... we don't like it so we're going to reinvent the wheel ... poorly and refuse to acknowledge any problems or defects in the new version.
Sometimes you just need to put a little effort into actually working together instead of being a douchebag loan wolf who takes his toys and goes to live in the woods.
The are on a subway train in a crowded city.
You wouldn't save any time calling in early because you don't know where you're going to stop so you can't even direct emergancy services in the right direction.
And lets actually be realistic, that 4 seconds calling earlier would save you ... isn't the difference between life and death, they were dead anyway.
And lets be clear, he didn't disrupt anything legitimately acceptable to do on the subway, so no, he didn't even disturb the peace ... he in fact, CREATED PEACE
