Post comments that would normally be expected from the slashdot crowd - outrage, humour, rebuttals, etc. We all know it's an april fools joke - instead of pointing it out, why not play along - it's a joke - i.e supposed to be fun. Get a clue Microsoft! The Google Toolbar supplements basic lack of features in IE (such as auto-complete, search box, and pop blocker). When it's your product, you don't need to add a toolbar extension, you just add the features to to the goddamn browser itself!

actually, MSN released a toolbar that added similar features to the Google toolbar. Microsoft, in XP SP2, did actually add the popup blocker to the browser itself. Although MSN is part of Microsoft, it acts much more like a seperate company, another example of this is MSN Messenger vs. Windows Messenger.

It goes into the ideology behind the Neo-Conservatives and the radical Islamists, showing how the neo-cons need terror or the perception of evil in order to control the American public through fear.

A friend of mine recently bought a projector, and we started playing XBOX games on it. Most are great and it's made a huge difference to the gaming experience. The only problem is that for people who have a tendency to experience motion sickness when playing FPS style games (like Halo) the effects become amplified. I can play Halo on a normal tv and only feel a little ill after, but after just a minute on the big screen I cannot play any more.

Yes crime is still a major problem in South Africa, but this is one of the most effective measures found so far at combating it. It is not the sole cure however and there are many incidents like the one you describe above, but the country needs to reduce crime in the major business and tourist areas in order to encourage investment and tourism, which will then generate jobs. Jobs will reduce poverty, which in turn will further reduce crime. The problem is that the police forces are under staffed and over burdened, so need the help of technology to make them more efficient and effective.

If the majority of web sites start adopting these standards first, the browsers will have to change to support them, not the other way around. Remember how IE got so prominent in the first place (apart from being integrated into the OS), is all those sites that had best viewed with Internet Explorer. So change the game on Microsoft and the mindset of the general public. If enough sites have Best Viewed with Firefox, Opera, etc. (and that is indeed true) then people will start realising that Internet Explorer has fallen behind the progress of the web and it is time to change to a browser that hasn't. It will also bring Firefox et al to the attention of the general public, most of whom haven't even heard of these other browsers. All they know as competition to IE is Netscape Navigator, again because of all those best viewed in Netscape Navigator.
