No I was referring to a discovery made by someone (AMD themselves I believe) that a particular version of Windows had code to execute additional wait states if an AMD processor was detected.
The information (web pages) was voluntarily placed into the public domain (by publishing it on the internet) by the company themselves. As such they surely have no recourse to limit its availability afterwards.
>>..having to shoot a zombie in the head the same number of times as in the body.....In Doom3 you can also blow their heads right off and they still keep coming. Evidently a zombie's head isn't a critical organ, so the body should be more suceptible to damage than the head actually.
The fossil fuels as a viable source of H is a bullshit argument just promoted by Bush to ensure the continuity of demand for oil. Meaning a viable future for his oil-baron cronies.
The only justification for making H from fossil fuels is that it takes more energy to produce H than it gives out any other way. But so what? thats totally irrelevant.... You can produce lots of H from free clean solar energy, for example. Who cares if it takes more sun power than the H gives out again?
I haven't RTFA but I just hope that Stroustrup has come to his senses and got rid of the 'friend' keyword.
I've never seen 'friend' used other than as a bodge to hide the fact that the original design was botched.
After many years of software development, I've never found any use of 'friend' where the rest of the code isn't really hacky too, or any good developer that would consider using it.
>>> Nevertheless, this is something that should be dealt with in the language.
*Sigh* yet another Windows user who thinks every OS=Microsoft.
A langauge should not implement OS-specific features. Don't blame Stroustrup for Microsoft's godawful API and crappy memory-management design. None of your issues are problems in Linux, for example.
Bush reduce petrolium consumption? Are you kidding? Most of the Bush family's money is from oil. His election campaigns were mostly funded by the big oil companies too.
It was no coincidence that petrolium prices at the pump went up massively about 3 weeks after he was elected the first time round, and haven't come back down ever since.
I really can't agree with the author about this one... Its one of the very few games I constantly come back to, and furthermore can enjoy as much as when it was new.
The number of differnet games and continuous stream of enthusiast-generated maps keep this game forever fresh (well, at least until UT2006 comes out! ).
It seems this dispells the myth of the existence of a soul that is not a function of the brain. And therefore, religious constructs such as heaven, hell and any kind of existence after death.
Good design is not an absolute. It is all about individual perception. e.g. I think the Honda Element is blatantly butt-ugly, but still some people pay good money to own one.
Software is just a tool. The user's perception of good software design is directly proportional to how the concepts and steps defined by the GUI correspond to that user's own mental model of the problem and solution. Unfortunately, no two poeple will generally perceive a problem or the steps to the solution in the same way. This means different software interfaces will be favoured by different people. Its also human nature to beleive that once you've made a choice, the thing you've chosen is obviously superior to everyone elses. Even, bizzarely, if its a Honda Element.
Thats why there are so many different coding standards, text editors etc. in use in the world.
Lets just hope this signals the ultimate end of putting chips to artificially limit lifetime and comaptability in ink cartridges.
HP do the same thing just to enable ludicrous overpricing on their ink cartridges. I'd love to see HP get forced to charge fair prices because of now legalised fair competition.
My Dell 2405fpw (24" widescreen 1920x1200 panel)costs less than this thing, has more pixels, faster refresh, and doesn't have a friggin' great big black bar (or 2) right down the middle of the screen (where the two monitors join). It works great for HDTV/DVD's too, which this thing wouldnt either.
yeah.. and those damn users too...

Microsoft also got caught doing this with a particular (early) version of Windows (was it 3.1?).

..and you're so dumb that you don't know the difference between your and you're.
A Skoda won't be able to reach the speed limit even without the GPS!
3 Skoda Jokes:
How do you double the value of a Skoda?
Fill the tank.
What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof?
A skip (dumpster in the US).
Why do Skodas have heated rear windows?
To keep your hands warm as you push it.
Kill OTA analog sure, but please keep OTA HDTV going!
My MythTV/HDTV3000 box needs it's daily fix!

Especially the ones selling Pen1s enlarg3m3nt products as their spam servers are now inaccessible.

Wow great observations, I totally agree with all of that.
I like the cinema, its a good trip out and movies do look so much better on the big screen.
Downsides are the cost of soda/snacks ($5.00 for a medium coke is blatant extortion) but I can live with it.
The real limiting factor is that now we have a baby we can't go anywhere unless we get a sitter.
You'll have to give them you name and anddress to get the solution, then they've got you.
Don't forget that (at least in the US) circumventing copy protection mechanisms is now illegal.
This just puts Sony into the driving seat of whether they prosecute you or not.
>> It will operate autonomously under control of on-board computers, with no ground control.
Hmm... lack of a pilot and no chance of remote control... I bet that makes the victi.. err... passengers feel very warm and fuzzy.

You'll also have to fight Microsoft to get a patent through...

K00l!!! Do they have a level editor? I'll do the "capture the flag" mod.
...Why???
Why would you buy this?
