    I am no longer suprised at the depths that the US government will sink to under the guise of "fighting terror".

    These Bioterrorism labs are surely a blatant cover-up for US Gov. breaking the 1925 Geneva Convention ban on Biological Warfare to do research for their own bio wepaons.

    Dude.. Linux is ALREADY prime-time. It can also be WAY better than windows for program installation.

    yum install

    you don't even have to find or download the program yourself (like you would with MS windoze), yum will do that part too.

    Your real issue is lack of linux knowledge because you are more familiar with windows. stop blaming Linux for your shortcomings.

    unfortunately some big manufacturer(probably HP) will lead the way then the rest will quickly follow when they realise they can get away with it.

    Then there won't be anyone marketing reusable cartridges so you won't have any choice.

    99% of Flash's use is only for those annoying pop-up/over advertising anyway.

    Hopefully most people won't bother with it now so Macromedia's own greed will make Flash (and therefore those adverts) less ubiquitous.

    Why is everyone so worried about cooling? Assuming, like the majority, you're not overclocking, as long as you GPU doesn't burn out it will give the same performance no mtter how hot it is.

    The stock fans already fitted are more than sufficient to make sure it won't melt down so why waste money?

    I think a real problem is that you're also getting them dependant on it.

    You no longer see any kids that can perform even basic math in their heads since calculators became accepted in schools.

    We're breeding a generation that won't know how to survive when their laptop battery runs out.

    Terrorism is just being used as an excuse for Bush to remove everyones rights.

    I beleive that OS/2 and Windows NT shared a common heritage, to the point where the API's are almost compatable.

    So what? Who cares if it takes more energy to produce than it gives out. Just like Hydrogen, Its the portability aspect that makes it useful. The net energy balance thing is IRELLEVANT.
    Its not like there's an energy shortage per se. The earth is continually bombarded with more energy than it knows what to do with from the sun alone.

    The whole net energy positive argument was cooked up by Bush as a way to justify extacting hydrogen from petrochemicals rahter than any other process, so his major investment in the oil biz and his oil-baron friends won't go out of business overnight.

    The argument 'don't buy it if you don't like it' won't stand up.

    There will always be enough consumers out there who don't understand enough about the issues and will still buy PC's using this technology.

    That group is always much larger than the 'informed' (e.g /.) group who won't go near it on principle, therefore 'Totally locked-down PC' will inevitably become the norm unless we can educate the masses somehow before its too late.
