The parent is deciving. Both media centers ARE PC based, but the similarity ends there. The old linux one is a crappy celeron, whereas the newer windows based version is a P4 3.0 Ghz. They do not share a case, or remote, or anything else. Basically, HP had an old pc entertainment center running linux, then they came out with a new one running windows. A lot of the drawing functionality is not done at all on the host machine. Instead of compressed images of the entire desktop, RD sends to the client a rough description of what is going on in the desktop. For instance, it sends the background once, and tells the client that it will always be the background. For applications, it actually sends screen shots, but explorer is pretty much suggested. This is what allowed those wireless monitors Microsoft sold to be [somewhat] useable, even over 802.11b. It also requireles a lot more processing power on the clients part, hence the 400 Mhz XScale processor, which would be overkill for a simple image decompressor / framebuffer.

It would be sweet, except for that (again) ugly red scroll wheel. I guess Apple didn't learn their lesson that people want their iPods pure white, or in some limited cases, jet black. It would have been cool if it were completely black, with a blacked aluminum back (still metalic looking) and one of those white on black screens (aftermarket iPod customizers, get set, go!). I'm also wondering how they have added another 3 hours to the iPods battery AND a color backlit screen AND more processing power for pictures in the same weight. That is even pushing the boundareis of the Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field. Maybe once the color iPods leave a 10 mile radius from him, they implode infinitely into themselves until there is no matter left.

Several assumptions here. 1. GM has these pickup trucks in the UK. This one, although I am not sure, is probably false. Gigantic cars/trucks are not big in Europe. 2. If they have this pickup, it will give European current. Again, probably wrong. The electrical systems on these cars is incredibly powerful and complicated, and I am sure would not be redesigned so some people can plug their toasters into it across the atlantic.

I don't know if I'm a little late to post, but I think the best solution would be a 7.2" touch screen. You can buy these on eBay for under $300 (I hope money was not a concern in this project). They have VGA connections, hence a much sharper and higher resolution picture than anything you will get with S-Video or composite. I can tell you that running a PC off TV resolution is unbearable for anything but watching movies or music visualizers. They also have a nifty USB touch screen, great for when you have these things on the road, and you want to set it up without trying to get your mouse to work on your leg.

It seems to me that the point the author of the review was trying to make was that "sure these drives are slower, but they are small, so it does not matter". It seems to me that in most applications that require SCSI, they require a high transfer rate. I would think this would matter for workstations and high workload SCSI arrays. This drive would still be usefull for such things as desktop replacement laptops, even ultra low power servers. I don't think this drive is idea for large RAID arraws, as the article seems to focus on.

What would you use the extra resolution for? The thing already has an insanely high DPI, doubling the resolution would mean they would have to double the font size, button size, ect, making the resolution useless. The hi-res palms aleady use the same size font as those old monochrome 160x160 ones. They just made it sharper.

It was probably also one of those kids who screams the whole flight, but who's parents ignore him. I would bet that if they found out their son just accidentally blinded someone, they would take the laser and keep their mouth's shut. Imagine how much troulbe they would get into. They would probably be banned from air travel or something, investigated by the government for terrorist connections, and possibly sued by the Pilot for ruining his career by blinding him in one eye. This is not a suprise. No iMac since their conception has been upgradeable to any notable degree. Since USB came out, Apple has focused on external upgrades. At this point, the PowerMac G5, their "professional model" can only take one optical drive and 2 internal hard drives. I am not against Apple's idea, since plugging in a little box is a lot more convienient than opening the case, but it also makes the whole simplicity thing dificult, once you have a burner or two attached, and a small array of hard drives for video editing, the beauty of these machines is going to be hidden in a rats nest of multicolored USB and Firewire cables. As to the 5200, if you want a nice graphics card, buy a high end mac, not the consumer model. Plus, it has been proven time and time again that there are more games for PCs and that they run faster there. If you want a computer to listen to music and make videos, buy a Mac. If you know what DirectX 9.0 is, buy a PC.
