FROM THE ARTICLE WHICH MANY OF YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO READ:
Triple Data Encryption Algorithm or
''TDEA.'' TDEA encrypts each block
three times with the DES algorithm,
using either two or three different 56-bit
keys. This approach yields effective key
lengths of 112 or 168 bits. TDEA is
considered a very strong algorithm. The
original 56-bit DES algorithm can be
modified to be interoperable with
TDEA.
Being a bit slower may actually be an advantage when the only method of attack is brute force. As for having a key complexity of 112 bits, that is only if you use two keys instead of three. If you are worried about people breaking it you would use three, but even if you used two lets take a look at it.
If you could try one key at every clock cycle, which would be amazing in and of itself, it would take you 54,844,652,936,586,090.5 years of computation on a 3 GHz machine to try every key. If you take half of that it gives you the average time to break the key. So to break it, on average, in one year you would 27,422,326,462,045 3 GHz computers all working together on it non-stop. Still too weak for you? Its amazing what doubling the bits can do to the complexity.
If you would READ THE ARTICLE you would see that the reuse of one of the keys is optional. You can use a third key which is kinda the point of Triple DES.
Its be accepted by many in the industry that DES was too weak. However you can use DES repeatedly with different keys to make up for it and thus you get triple DES. It effectly gives you a key space of 56 * 3 = 168 bit keys which is much better. And you could always run the data through a few more times if you are realy paranoid.
I've heard of more failures with Xbox than with PS2. I personally have a PS2 since June 2001 and it has worked fine even though it has been used as both a game system and our primary DVD player the entire time. Some of my friends have had different Xbox problems including failure of controler port, DVDs failing to eject, and games crashing when there doesn't seem to be any scratches on the disk.
You can make up your own mind, but I already have Xbox sucks!
What about Jython. It combines Java and Python and runs everything on the JVM. You get two languages in one because you can use java code and python code interchangably. There are restrictions place on python code because of the JVM, but thats Java's fault.
Even with automated updates and other utilities it still will take someone with some brains to fix problems that are more than just installing the latest patches. Any moron can install a patch.
When was the last time you ate "school food". The stuff is nasty and many kids would rather not eat lunch than to eat that stuff. School cafeterias were losing money and bring in outside food brought back some of that lost revenue. Which is worse kids eating fast food or not eating lunch and spending their money on candy and cokes?
Again stop blaming other and take some responcibility. Parents who don't want their kids to eat it can make their lunch.
If you're so worried about how unhealthy it is then don't eat it. People are so wrapped up in blaming others for their faults that they don't see the truth. No one is forcing you to eat 1000+ calorie meals. You make the choice and you have to live with the consequences.
Use of a physical token combined with an easy to remember pin is more secure than passwords. Since pin numbers tend to be short there is no problem with choosing them randomly. Furthermore with a limit on the number of failed attempts before disabling the token you make it nearly impossible for someone to break in.
Looking at through cynical eyes it doesn't matter how secure your method is because, you are ultimately placing trust in the typical user who will most likely do something stupid when given the chance.
The Moderators have been duped again check out the article on Intel being sued and you'll see the same post only the age is different. Its just some numnut who feels he needs attention.
Would you like some cheese with your wine? I haven't heard anyone so pathetic in a long time. You complain about people complaining. Doesn't that strike you as absurd or are you too stupid to realize it yourself. Further more if you truly believe what you say why are you hiding behind an anonymous post.
There may be workers that filter through the images to help with the training of the system. After all how is it going to learn unless there is a mechanism that detects right and wrong responces.

I've played role playing games for going on 13 years. I've played every addition of D&D as well as shadow run, Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, Mythus, Twilight 2000, and a few other odd balls. I have found with every game some inherent problems usually the result of an attempt to balance the game after the fact so that everyone is equal. The game has to be designed from the beginning with balance in mind to make it playable.
All that said I'm working on a new role playing system that will do two things. First make it more flexible and fun to play, and second to make it easy so that once learned you don't need to keep referencing the books over and over. I'm always looking for suggestions including things people have liked or dislike about a game.
If everyone is out sourcing their work off shore then there will less money going into the pockets of potential customers (laid off employees) and thus fewer products will be bought. The key to a successful economy is the circulation of currency within the economy not out of the economy.
You can't just look at this in a company by company basis. Capitalism works of the principle of supply and demand. There will only be a demand for products when there is money to buy them. There will only be money to buy them if people have jobs.
Flashbake(R) ovens - Flashbake(R) ovens use a combination of intense visible light from halogen bulbs and infrared energy to cook food. It produces the browning effect of conventional ovens but it cooks almost twice as fast. Unlike conventional ovens, it isn't necessary to leave these ovens on during non cooking times to maintain oven temperature. They only operate when actual cooking is taking place - no preheating is needed. Because of these advantages, Flashbake(R) ovens are being used in commercial kitchens to increase productivity.-Flashbake
Ok so it wasn't a complete Lisa, but I never said it was. I only used the Lisa name because would know what I'm talking about. Notice the words (more or less). We did build out own MMU as well as interfaced an ACIA which we over clocked to 38.4 K baud. We also incorporated a PIT and a Nintendo Light Gun. The Light Gun required a one-shot due to its design and required a television screen as apposed to the computer monitor. We couldn't get the right kind of graphics card to output to a TV so the Gun was canned even though it worked. Communications we done through the acia to a terminal on a PC and graphics were done with ANSI escape codes. All software was written in assembly and was custom to the setup we had build. The project was a semester long 500 level class at an engineering school and was not easy in the least.
So you see I did make a working 68000 computer it may be missing a few things, but come on it was a one semester class. And as far as effort hows 30 hours a week in lab.
I've seen various birds do it all the time. These included the more intelegent birds such as parrots and macaws. I noticed that some of them only did it to certain song that they "liked."
Espresso machine for you desk at work. You can get a simple one for $30 or so and you won't have anything left to complain about. Buy your favorite bean, in small pre-ground quantities so it doesn't go stale, and enjoy.
It was used and a little warn out. The data was intact on the hard drive, but the motor just couldn't get in going on a cold boot. I would have to spin the motor by hand and throw the switch. Ah, the good old days.
Spirit just needs a good jump start. Anyone got some really long jumper cables?

Those are 9 and 10 year olds, but its the parents who buy the food. How many parents really think that McDonalds is good for you?

building a Apple Lisa (more or less) from the ground up for a class with nothing but the 68000 reference material, the chips, and wire.
Turn it on and see if it SMOKES. If it does its a hardware problem.
