ANYONE that has sold 20 or more items in the past will completely agree with you.
You might make money on ebay, but without a doubt, ebay is the one getting rich. And good for them, to a point. The Paypal shit, though, will get them burned in hell.
The "tools" that law enforcement uses against organized crime & drug dealers is the same tool they use against anyone. Terrorists included.
There are no "extra tools" the FBI has just because someone is a drug dealer. The only thing I can even think of that might support your thought is that there are defined laws being broken (RICO, etc)
The Patriot Act was supposedly to go above and beyond these tools (in the name of terrorism only).
I don't know whether to post this here, or the grandparent's posts.
"hang on, doesnt the USA PATRIOT act allow the government to do exactly this? inspect your electronic communications?"
The FBI/Police can already do this long before the USA PATRIOT Act. They had to get a warrant from a judge to allow wiretapping.
What the USA PATRIOT Act now allows is allow the government agencies to do the same thing WITHOUT warrants. Or having to let the victim every know they were spied upon.
And it's not just limited to terrorism.
"PATRIOT authorizes the use of "sneak and peek" search warrants in connection with any federal crime, including misdemeanors. "
"PATRIOT is not limited to terrorism. The Government can add samples to DNA databases for individuals convicted of "any crime of violence." Government spying on suspected computer trespassers (not just terrorist suspects) requires no court order. Wiretaps are now allowed for any suspected violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act".
You know, all she needs to do is have a EULA pop up when the application starts saying that he agrees to the extra logs. No one reads the EULA's anyway
On a side note, even in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they have for years had a camera under a bypass mailing people a picture of their car while speeding, and the ticket for speeding.
Not as Orwellian as being id'd by Fastlane detection, but similar. So I don't see why one would scare people more than the other.
I was _really_ ready to go back to college. I worked full time AND went to school full time. It was a killer, luckily I was young enough to handle.
It was weird staying at the university lab working on programs until it closed at 1, to hop over to work and put in a couple hours of work to catch up.
Luckily I had a girlfriend doing the same thing.
Math was the hardest for me. When I found out I was grandfathered in under the 'old rules' for how much math I had to take, I quickly dumped retaking the Calc classes... didn't need to redo them.
In fact, math is the only reason I'm not going back to do graduate school. I'd literally have to start over at Algebra II and trig.
Even though I think the piracy was on software, what about the Music Industry the other year? Found GUILTY of price fixing.... paid a mere 100-400 million (Sorry, can't remember how much) Came to a whopping $16 per person who filed.
With "punishments" like that, it's no wonder they price fix. Their payout was much, much higher.

Good point there. We do have Cable & Tivo, and the price of those two alone, is probably my main reason for my concern of movie rental costs.
It's possible she can simply afford a 2nd floppy too. But you're scenario will definately be true once Bush crushes Social Security.
Well, since you're probably wanting to use RAR to download warez, why not just download the cracked copy of WinRAR?
If I went with that, it's practically another utility bill. Anyway, obviously it's great for those that do, like you.
How long have you waited for this moment... Anyway, too bad it's not rillly you, you're no Wil Wheaton.
I think I'll just wait to DL the PDF at the NG.

At first, I thought, that's not funny. Then I realized at 31, it is *I* that is old! How true!
Those must be the new Twenny-ferst century jobs, that George W was talking about.

You city slickers... I tell ya.
LOL, the lawyers of the world groan just as loudly while watching L&O, as doctors do watching ER.
Yea, what a lame statement. As far as I'm concerned, the Linux community's generosity is unsurpassed in it's offering of a free, robust, and safe O/S.

Now that's funny

Come on, this is the FBI. It's not like hiding a floppy disk down your air duct is going to work here.
Yea, but you don't get 15 years in a federal prison for speeding, do you?
The BSA was involved. This sting was about cracked software titles. RTFA
The only confusing thing was my bad joke.
Hell, I'll say it to your face!! Oh wait, that's not what you meant, right?
Except when THE HOBBIT comes out, right? And Star Wars III, right? And Indiana Jones IV, right? And the next Pixar movie.
