If you *had* read the article, you would know that this flaw could also exist in Linux. The jist I got involves the client app sending search information back to the google servers, and they reply with the ads that will show up in your browser. It seems to me that this would only be a matter of hijacking that users dns, and pointing the name so a server that is listening on the appropriate port.
Your absolutely right. Contracts have terms that must be met and damages that must be awarded if the contract is broken. I'm guessing they never had the later, in which case they would just go for the neck.
Same thing as if you are contracted to supply cement for a bridge and the entire bridge project gets cancelled, you still get awarded damages. (Within reason).
I find it funny that a site designed by a bunch of sysadmins to vent their frustrations will likely be very frustrated when/. hammers it into the ground.
This post have been here for less that 5 mins and i'm already getting mysql_connect errors!
But google does not place the results in the main results page, they are shown in a related "advertisements" box instead. The results of your query are the results of their algorithms only.
If your true to what you like to do, do it, even if the boat is already full. People that like IT for what it is will do better then most who are there to make a quick buck.
Figured I'd look up a picture of Darl because I hate the guy so much and I don't know what he looks like. Instead I found a picture of a stuffed tux at the SCO office.
What if, for business reasons, the labels are more interested in their own economies of scale and brand identity than providing listeners with music they value?
I don't think the music labels are big on making themselves a brand identity. Aside from text in music videos, and small icons on cds, they are not recognizable to most. A brand identity implies that everyone knows the brand, even if they have never used the product. Coke can be classified in this way, since it is one of the most recognizable logos around.

I know he's one of the worst people in high places, but I think this is a good thing. He's not invading peoples privacy or instituting some terrible law, he's actually helping people.
Open source is a philosophy, you can apply it to anything ranging from political models to software. The point is when something becomes so integrated with society, no matter what type of service, (be it water or software), society has to keep tabs on its own infrastructure because that is what society itself is built on.
So maybe this has enlightened you to why open standards and open source are related to humanities.
I did some looking around and wasn't able to find one..

However you're forgetting the bad, the 160 million dollars of merchandise not delivered to the Canadian Department of Defence....

I've heard rumours that China has plenty unpatched machines. Maybe they intend to use the firewall to block those Mongolian RPC invaders!
