    Does your denomination believe in eternal security even for those who willfully denounce God? How about those who don't, but who do not fulfill any of the Commandments?

    You can chooose not to seek God in the first place but once a Christian always a Christian.

    Romans 8:38-39

    38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

    39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Nope never heard of it, must be a Catholic thing.

    Excommunication is practiced by all mainstream Christian denominations, including Protestants. It's just that the frequency of its use varies widely in practice, and so does the perceived severity of the punishment. It's definitely much easier to get excommunicated in Orthodoxy or Catholicism, especially since in many cases you enter that state by simply doing or not something (e.g. in Orthodoxy at least, by not confessing).

    My understanding is that string theorists are TRYING to come up with disprovable tests. That kinda gives them an edge.

    For full disclosure, I use the terms god and physics interchangeably.

    Would Christianity get an edge if I started "trying" to come up with a disprovable test.

    Try another church I did that for years and never had issues.

    I can't believe they didn't mention Goonies...Can't remember if it was Goonies 1 or 2, but the one I played had no point at all, and it was terribly difficult to figure out how to accomplish anything - I gave up after a few hours. Now that was a terrible game.

    It must have been Goonies 1. Goonies 2 was an award winning classic.

    But lost behind it all is the primary problem — "Thou shalt not steal". Because, if the 10 Commandments were a "living and breathing document", the "Thou shalt not copy content without owner's permission" would've been found in it long ago.

    Also, it would help if Slashdot posters realised that the US can't dictate the law to the rest of the world, much as it often tries to, and that neither the US Constitution nor the SCOTUS are the defining authority for what copyright is, why it exists, or what it may or may not do. The other 95% of the world's population are getting a bit bored with this now.

    Which would be an excelent point if it weren't for the fact that the article is talking about the U.K.

    For the best JRPG, read "Fate/Stay Night". All cut scenes all the time! There's the same battles and statistics and magic items you'd expect, but none of that tedious "gameplay".

    Well yeah, because the product is inherently tech. It's ok to sell an ornament based on it's aesthetic appeal, but if I were to try to sell you a car with the sole selling point being that the tyres had white side-walls, you'd think I was taking you for an idiot. That's what's happening here. Sure, women want a range of colours (so do men) but they are not going to make their whole purchasing choice based on aesthetics that's just insulting them.

    Why not? Plenty of cars are purchased becuase of how they look. Yes it's stupid but a profitable percentage of people purchase things for stupid reasons. Marketing people know this.

    The law is being used in an an unbalanced fashion to persecute someone not because of the crime he committed, but because he doesn't conform to the social norms of the leaders of his community.

    You really think "leaders of the community" don't look at porn? Really? There is something missing from this story.

    It wasn't just porn it was an adult personal which means some personal info was posted. I'll bet large sums that this guy is gay and his employer is a homophobe.

    I don't know if they are "creating a much bigger problem". What problem is that?

    It seems to me that they're passing laws just to make people feel like something is being done. It's not going to do any good, and it's going to do bad -- but just a tiny bit of bad. Certainly not a "much bigger problem" than somebody killing over a dozen people, but still a little bit bad.

    Translation: Either I don't play paitnball or I don't live in Germany. Either way this doesn't affect me so I don't care.
