Seriously, paying one or two people several millions dollars when there is no shortage of fresh talent banging on the doors is just stupid. The very least they could do would be to insinuate that unless these "stars" lowered their saleries they would just hire someone else for a fraction of the price.
An example of good but cheap movie would be Primer. It cost around $7000 to make.
I think there is way too much money wasted in Hollywood simply because they haven't yet been pushed to get more creative with the budget and what they spend it on. This is one of the reasons that these producers want to keep the old distribution system of total control; producing these movies that costs 100-200 million dollars means that they have to have a very high return of investment. However if the costs could be kept at least a little bit reasonable then sharing these movies might not be perceived as such a threat to their investment.
I also think that there is a wasted opportunity regarding fan-filmmaking due to too strick and long lasting copyright laws. Like any other group of works, there is a large pile of terrible, a somewhat big pile of average and a small pile of brilliant ones. If only they could sell them without the cloud of damaging lawsuits hanging over them due to their work being "derivative" from the original.
Star Wars fanfilms are a good example of this. I think that copyright lasts way to long and that if it would lasts maybe 5-10 years we would have a much stronger and industrius film industry.

If you like blade runner, the you should definately try the game (which runs well with wine btw). It is spot on regarding the spirit of the film and has 14 different endings, depending on what you do.

Then there is the issue of seperation of Church and state is slowly but surely being erased. Unfounded wars of aggression (arguable to some extend though I guess) and last but not least, many computer programs are being Censored.
I find it easier to make a list (ala Kill Bill) no only for what needs to be done, but to check to make sure that basic rights are being violated. Lets call this list the constitution. Here is your assignment for today kids: Go forth unto the internet and find EXTREME cases of governmental violations of each part of the constitution and the bill of rights. Extra points for snappy quotes from goverment officials and spokespeople chanting the party line!

Also, regarding ATI cards, I don't know why many people are complaining so much. I have a radeon 9700 pro in my laptop, using the free dri r300 drivers which perform very well.
Bottom line is: There are skilled people who have already had considerable success in reverse engineering both nvidia cards and ATI cards, and the more they succeed, the less we will have to depend on ATI and nvidia for drivers and the more documentation will be written for those chips.
In the long run, we will get our way (ie. good free drivers).

It would be much more constructive to list parties policy priorities as well as their monotary affliliations to get a better picture of their intentions. For example, calling all of the Chinese people communists is nothing but a distraction and a divertion to make it impossible for people to understand and be more active in politics in general. I'm currently running gentoo with a kernel 2.6.14.2. Why am I not using 2.6.15.x something or other? Because I'm going to wait until they move unto 2.6.16 and then go to 2.6.15.x because everyone will have cought up with that. Less of a headache.
The latest is not always the greatest. The Debian people know that, that's for sure;-)
