    How can you honestly say your building better technology for a gaming system than what's on expensive desktops or servers ?

    Remember all the sony hype about their 'emotion' engine. It's not much different than a good desktop of that time .

    Lets see . This thing uses like 10 servos,processor,frame,software.

    Analogy for building one would be something like a huge r/c plane with all the servos.

    i think you could make a knockoff for 500 - 1000 dollars ? Any challengers ?

    That would solve all the problems.

    Think about all the radio stations on the radio dial and how much more efficient we could use 'our'(public) spectrum if we used wifi or even some variant like directional wifi(pringle can).

    I think only the government is impeding this.

    The radio spectrum is not used wisely.

    Lets change it. Time to get rid of 'radio'.

    All the different distributions hurts non techy users. Linux is just a kernel so therefore you have incompatibility like installing software across distros. There needs to be another attempt at forming a standard so apps work on all the distros.

    I think linux is almost there.

    To get more public usage and software devel. some government intervention is needed to stop OEM bundling of microsoft would help , or counterbalanced by including it on all new computers.

    LCD's are like microchips. A real son of a B___ to manufacture. We need OLED or plasma for larger screens if you want affordability.

    Your second point is true. Nobody does because i guess it's bandwidth concerns. You actually have website owners telling people to avoid slashdot linking because of this. They get rate hiked I guess.

    Where is the American ingenuity ?

    Why are we dependent on Japanese technology which to me is very average.(maybe because we don't have as many electronic manufacturers like we once did.)

    DVD technology is limited and is slow coming.

    Whats the alternative ?

    How about holographic storage.

    Should be called Space Rope or Space Cable.

    Space Elevator was a scifi term and meant building a very tall building or structure to be used as an elevator.

    This is 'not' that.

    Go to the gunshop and you can buy kegs of gunpowder,even through the mail. The NRA would put Bush out of business if he cracked down on that . So the regs are useless if your going to disallow one and allow the other.

    An idea for you high powered rocket guys is to go with a method of fueling rockets with gunpowder.
    I wonder what the gov would do then ?
