Then I have a window I can do pretty much anything on the local machine with. Anything started within this window will start with administrator properties. So kind of like a sudo for windows, just have to remember to close it when your done.
They should do the right thing and check their luggage then instead of placing the burden on those around them.
Asking what they would do if they were on their own wouldn't be a fair question but along those lines how would they have copped if no one around them were capable of lending a hand?
The last major release of the kernel was 18-Dec-2003. Linus has said that he doesn't expect to ever roll a 2.8 version. As far as major changes go, the kernel is solid. I am not going to check, but I think you'll find something similar if you check apache. I am betting that the famous webserver is solid enough where they don't update much.
You should have looked it up before wasting your time, this isn't even remotely accurate.
The latest stable version of the Linux kernel is: 2.6.24 2008-01-24 23:18 The latest snapshot for the stable Linux kernel tree is:2.6.24-git13 2008-02-03 07:01 The latest 2.4 version of the Linux kernel is: 2.4.36 2008-01-01 12:20 The latest 2.2 version of the Linux kernel is: 2.2.26 2004-02-25 00:28 The latest prepatch for the 2.2 Linux kernel tree is: 2.2.27-rc2 2005-01-12 23:55 The latest -mm patch to the stable Linux kernels is: 2.6.24-mm1 2008-02-04 00:38 Even the 2.2 kernels have had more recent updates then you claim.
I'm not 100% sure of the ownership at this point but they were gtei name servers (4.2.2.1 through 4.2.2.6) a long while back, I think they are now verizons. A tech at comcast and verizon have both warned me against using this for name service though as they are (supposedly) slated for decommission in the next year. I know quite a few places that are going to fail miserably the day they close down. Its probably not the best practice but I've been known to use those for forwarders at very small sites that didn't have their ISP's settings handy and would have taken an inordinate amount of time to obtain.
I always use ping 4.2.2.2 because its less movement when your not using the keypad.
The problem here is that your in a different demographic than these are marketed to. However, they have made you believe this is the type of product your looking for. See, these are designed for home users / super cheap businesses (who will pay big when theirs fails) with more money then sense and you, sir, seem to have more then enough to shop for a different product for your solution. However you've gotten your frustrations mixed up, Perhaps, it's that you aren't sure exactly what your looking for or where to look for it but I think it's perfectly clear you're not the target for this product. I'm surprised you haven't realized this through the course of your rants, which don't really mean anything at this point.
1) The hardware and software are available and commercially available as a complete solution or DIY so why complain about the product with a more basic feature set?
2) Your price range is magnitudes higher and is still doable for the sizes and prices you want.
3) Most people you know are swimming in 300-500gb hard drives? The people this is marketed to have a hard drive in their computer but couldn't tell you what size it was or which part it was. They often confuse this storage with RAM and are generally gravelly concerned with running out (of either, but couldn't tell you that directly). I also assure you/this/ is most people.
I'm not seeing the "640k is enough" attitude here, more of a "this is close to what I'm looking for and don't know how to find or obtain what I want so let me bitch about how much the products for a different demographic suck" attitude on your behalf..
I find with two 50 user setups we are having to call them WAY to often.
It seems like every time an extension is changed or a user is added/removed we have to call support due to something on their side not working right. Their configurations are buggy as hell and due to its design is WAY slower than it needs to be. Their support could be better but they seem to be able to fix most things real quickly, as if they have had to do it far to many times.
We sold these two systems and refuse to sell another.
I agree, theres no excuse for disrespecting someone for doing their job. Anytime any of these posts come around I wonder how any one posting on any of these types of discussion are capable of buying anything. Theres no way in hell your always going to be happy with service provided every time. On top of it a lot of the excuses used in these discussions are almost always immature bull shit. You do enough business with anyone and somethings going to happen to piss you off eventually. It an unfortunate side effect of being human and dealing with other humans.
Your always going to be annoyed by something. Why show such disrespect for others by being a dick for them doing their jobs. Get a fucking clue and politely tell the sales people you aren't interested or as part of your greeting let the sales person know your not interested in any of the sales you know they have to pitch. They aren't doing it to annoy you its their job, let them be. Half the time they will thank you for letting them know before hand and frees you both up for small talk instead of the pitch.
I worked at a video store for a while in high school and they sold pre-paid rental cards. cost 19.99 and were worth 25$ so you got 5 for free... I was always amazed at the dick heads who would come up with over 20$ in rentals and wanted no part of hearing how you could save them 5$. Most of the time they would have used the value of the card in one shot. Suckering them in wasn't my goal. I'd even have people listen to the whole thing, then say "So, this 24$ worth of movies would only cost me 19.99?" "Yes." "No thanks." then pay the 24$.
If you looked hard enough you could find a way to give everyone at least one movie for free every time they were in, something I was famous and praised for. You could get one if you weren't in for 3 months, you could get one for saying you didn't like the last movie you watched, the movie was out last time you were in, birthday, anniversary, day that ends in y, first rental ever, being out of state, renting from our store when you regular the store in another city. I could almost guaranteed if you listened to what I was forced to pitch I would find you a way to get one of them for free.
I'm not really sure why your blaming Red Hat for not correctly diagnosing a problem with their software when you clearly state the problem ended up being hardware. They diagnosed that there was no problem with their software and suggested it could be your power supply. They could have qualified it by saying something like, "We're not finding any problems with the software, could you check your hardware? Maybe the power supply is failing."
I guess I fully expect others to get a job appropriate to their needs, a stockboys position is clearly not for someone trying to raise a family, you stupid arrogant fuck.
Why the hell should someone be able to support a family on the position of a stockboy?! I would argue these positions are clearly designed for those who are in high school, down on their luck and need cash incoming between jobs, or just plain don't need any more to get by (housewives who need out of the house, househusbands that need out of the house, seniors, etc).
Whats it say about the asshole who irresponsibly started a family well before ready to do so or to stay* in a position that does not allow them to meet the needs of the family? Should we just do away with any pay scales and just start paying people whatever they need to live on? We'd have an entire society trying to flip hamburgers and stocking shelves...
*I use stay because I fully respect that sometimes shit happens and your have to TEMPORARILY take job well below your needs just to have something flowing in... in all actuality if they STAY in the position despite them NEEDING a better job its just laziness.
According to them you don't even have the right to rip them yourself. Unfortunately, they are succeeding in getting people to believe that garbage.
I do have to disagree with your comment about ripping the CDs though, unless your doing something wrong you can always rip things at a higher quality then available. Do you think the "warez groups" who put these things out get anything special? I would wager that most are just people like you and me purchasing CDs then ripping them and sharing for the greater good.
I honestly am just looking for help in understanding this but why would you need to contact anyone other then the makers of second life? Lets take Raven Shield for example, users can create their own armbands. If I take a screen shot that includes one of these armbands I still only need ubisofts permissions to use the screen shot.
>>With respect to Automatix, no one told me about it either (that I recall?) but it was there in the menus easily findable.
I have to say I've never had anyone tell me about appwiz.cpl either but I manage to add and remove windows programs just fine. As a matter of fact the one time I bought a pre-built windows PC they didnt tell you shit about how to get anything done.
Kwandar: I can see how this could read as sarcastic or in disagreement with your statement without the subtle voice inflections but I'm actually agreeing;)
Over in the Windows world the ATI drivers aren't much better.
The drivers that came packaged with two new ATI cards I installed today did not work. They wouldn't install on two PC's running windows XP with the same error about wanting to have the standard VGA driver installed before it would install. For some reason it was unable to detect that the system was using the standard VGA driver. I ended up downloading the latest off the website and they installed without any issues.
I don't disagree, my wording may have been of in the original post. What I was getting at is most mammals have an appendage with the sole purpose of balance, unlike us. To strengthen your point most people swing their arms when they walk. The use of the arms could be the way we've adapted to not having the tail.
I'd team up two for the internal network, internet on one, wireless on the other. If I had some kind of VOIP service I'd put it on one of the internal ones.
I believe its target is home servers using windows home server. One of its hot features is the storage system. I'll be paraphrasing but let me describe it as best I can. It is not raid but fault tolerant and each additional drive increases the systems storage IO capacity. The storage area is pooled into one large drive and data is always on two physical drives at the same time. Drives of any size can be added and their capabilities are added to the pool. I know I should have read the article but it maybe that this board wont be available to the general public and only system builders making windows home servers. If this is the case no raid makes perfect sense.
I've heard that since humans are one of the few mammals that walk solely on our hind legs and lack of any sort of balancing appendage walking is more of a series of controlled falls. I believe it was from a show on the new National Geographic HD channel. It tested the force that several martial arts strike at. It was Mythbusters style and intended to test lore of old martial arts movies. I'm not sure how valid any of it was though.
It would be interesting to see if people with a higher level of balance could do more while walking than people who were more clumsy.
I hope you're not comparing a home setup the infrastructure needed for a company the size of T-Mobile. It's not quite the same and you can't exactly compare the two.
Are they making money off you? Definitely. Are they making 10$ more per customer, doubt it. The profit is coming from the general cell phone fees and the miscellaneous charges. (Read as: dumbasses that are constantly going over on minutes and SMS limits.) During this testing/roll-out phase they are potentially/likely losing a bit of profit per customer. Companies this size can't just throw together any old server and plug it into a network, then grab any ol' phone and convert it, fiannly unleashing it on the public. A lot of R&D and marketing must go into these projects and it costs money. Those losses have to be made up somewhere, like charging you a monthly fee for the connivance and possibility of even having such a service.
In a few months when a suitable portion of the upgrades are complete and the sales data rolls in they will decide to keep going and finish the upgrades or call the whole thing a wash and write up the losses as R&D. If they choose to continue they will make up for the losses keeping the fees up while the demand is high and if the outlook is real good they might even raise the price. Once they have competition the price will go down. The data that came in urging them to go forward with the rest of the upgrades will hopefully have said that they will make it out of the red before they have to lower the price.
I agree, The first thing I hear when I read someone has gone through an abnormal ammount of anything is that THEY are doing something incorrectly or something in their environment is causing the issues.
A freind of mine discovered they had some power issues on the power companies side after going through 2 central air units and a power supply in his PC every 3-4 months. Eventually he put the PC on a UPS and it went away and no one thought anything of it until the central air unit kept acting up.

I like how T1 is slowly replacing dial-up in these kind of sentences... ;)
The bad part is they are still ~700$ a month here.
>>We're a small place and there's no proper management.
Sorry, typos like that really irk me so I fixed it for ya!

Honestly though it looks like you really did mean one hundred dollars on multiple access points. You won't find many non crappy APs under a hundred.
