I noticed that carsdirect bought a keyword (or sponsored link) for "volkswagon" (the misspelling) and even used the misspelled word in the ad! Pretty cool.
I read the previous story before this one, and I immediately thought of the Space Shuttle Atlantis as the setting. I know; I know. It's the space station, but still the stream of conciousness deal was a little weird. In fact, now I can hardly picture Indy in near weightlessness.
weren't we already supposed to have flying cars? They are the great pumpkin of the technological world. Give it up already; they aren't coming, Charlie Brown.
Now that I don't work for a.com startup, my hours are down from about 70-90 a week to about 35 a week. Programming for a living ain't half bad if you don't have to do it 70 hours a week.
At first, I thought about looking for a second job to fill the extra time, but now I hardly notice it anymore.
I've seen the same trend in a few of my friends as well in the last year or so.
This guy doesn't seem to understand the phrase "information wants to be free."
It's more like a 2nd law of thermodynamics rule for information. You know, only more people can have information as time progresses, not fewer. Kinda like the "You can't put the crap back in the dog" law.
Why do people continue to use that phrase anyway? it's something I pretty much only expect to see on alt.2600 or #HackWarezLinuxPhreakKlan or something.
I currently use Qwest.net as my DSL ISP here in Denver. If that becomes MSN service, I'll probably take the monent to change, just for fun.
Anyone have any good reccommendations for DSL ISP service in Denver? I'm thinking of Front Range Internet or someone, but I'm not sure who to go to. Who do you reccommend?
I've noticed that even some of the larger porn providers, like vivid video or someone is actually pretty small scale. That's when compared to some other web sites I've seen. Given that and the tremendous amount of problems you must have with chargebacks and low pay for banner ads, I have to wonder if you can actually make *that* much money in porn.
Perhaps some commentary from a few people who run porn sites that hang out here, like ninenine.com would clear up a bit of this question I've had.
Also, does anyone have any firsthand experience knowing how many people actually pay for subscriptions to sites like danni.com or anything like that?
The slashbox perhaps isn't a good example, because that genre is all about user preferences, but what if CNN were to start selling you space to put 5 headlines per day in? You maintain the data
via whatever means you like. The data gets pulled from your site and links to your site, giving you tons of hits and links back to your site.
If you want to know if it works, as the guys over at newsmax.com. It looks like they're selling headline space. (See the headlines that start with "Adv:" and are usually about hair loss treatment.)
You would know about Amazon's new micropayment system, but the slashdot editors thought it unfit for print, apparently. 2001-04-21 23:26:04 Amazon Launches New Micropayment System

It's not surprising that they didn't publish that article. It sounds very similar to one that they published over two months earlier.
First, I place my CD's in a black box from an airplane. those things seem highly resistant to crashes and stuff. People also always seem able to find them
Then I tape cockroack exoskeleton all over it. everyone knows that cockroaches are immune to nuclear holocaust and will be the only remaining life to withness the nuclear winter. I think this is because of the exoskeleton.
Lastly, I pack Ju-Ju-Bees all around it. From personal experience, know that this stuff will never be dissolved and cannot be picked apart even with a sharp instrument. This provides protection from undesirable human tampering (such as by Malorie)
I feel that this three layer protection is one of the most advanced and impenetrable available at a low cost today. Please let me know if you find any weaknesses in it or devise any improvements.
One of the reasons I still write some things in PERL is because I know that I can find and install about a zillion modules quickly and easily through the CPAN repository and CPAN module. I'm pretty sure that if Python had something similar, like the Vaults of Parnassus but more evolved that I would abandon PERL almost entirely.
Do you see things in a similar way? If so, why has Python not evolved something similar or better, and what can I do to help it along in this realm?
I have long wondered why the value None in python is named "None". It's pretty common in other languages to call that thing (or something very similar) "NULL". Were you trying to differentiate None and NULL in some way, or do you just like the way "None" sounds as you read code?
sure, see http://www.cafepress.com/nsa1984.
Hope it helps.
I wonder if this page will see any benefit from this mission of yours.

I'm addicted to placebos.
Are you sure about that? Is it possible that you just imagined something that's not really true?
I'll have a McBaby with cheese extra value meal with a coke, please.
I reccommend wrapping your tires in bubble wrap so that it absorbs the shock for every appliance in your car.
Copying others' work is not the infraction. It is failure to cite borrowed ideas.

So how can I find out if I have been the lucky victim of a wiretap?

well, it seems to be doing alright, but if it gets bad, here's a mirror:

That's the dissenting opinion that McVeigh quoted at his sentencing hearing. Pretty harshly written for a Supreme Court Justice.

"You 'ave been trolled", I suppose.
Also, notice that this is hanging out in the elite new developers section!
