if the Argentinian ISPs were strong enough against the law, they could cut the legislators' phone and internet services. if that doesn't work, they could just stop providing services... that might be what happens anyway, given the enormous task set before them.
oh, and i was thinking more along the lines of things like taylor polynomials, power series, and the like... which are more general purpose and abstract; it's where i'm at in math right now, so it's as high a level as i've seen. markov chains look to be the same type of thing i was referring to and more advanced.
the thinking types for math and hacking overlap in areas. math can also be useful for hacking, coding, and cracking, in hacking/cracking with cryptanalysis, and in coding with cryptography. that's an overt correlation, but math can come in handy for lots of other things when you're programming. something as small as modulus (%) for alternating background colours to the interpretation and modeling of data: graphs, other visualizations, regressions, statistics, prediction, and other things i can't think of right now. data compression, random number generation, and other computer functions also rely on math. lower level things in hardware most likely do as well (branch prediction?). from what i can tell, russians seem to be more into things like sums, sequences, and series... higher level, general purpose, abstract mathematics (can't list any specifics beyond that, i'm not far enough into math yet). interestingly, some of the russian music that i've seen/played (piano) is similar to that type of math, or at least it has a similar feel to it.
how you can have a sig like this with comments that start at +1 is beyond me. you, sir, are amazing. if only because i'm glad to see someone talking about apple who isn't drooling over their latest product at the time of writing.
used CDs are great... say do you know of a good way to preview the whole cd? that's the only issue i have with buying music (in general, most places only let you hear a short clip).
firstly, regard for human life is not something to be shoved up one's posterior. and anyway, if you're pregnant, you should have decided whether or not to have a child ~9 months ago; people should be responsible with decisions of that magnitude. rape is another thing, and i'll leave opinions on that up to someone with much more wisdom than myself...
i can't vote yet, but i think it's important that a pro-life president be in office when the supreme court justices are getting as old as they are... i most certainly do not want anything i pay in taxes aiding the government in protecting the practice of abortion. it's taken (or prohibited) far too many lives to be considered unimportant.
my dad has that same model (with 192mb, got the extra dimm of a broken comp)... i set it up to dual-boot os 9.2.2 and gentoo linux. is an old 800x600 screen really enough for os x?
i hear minidisc is big in asia... i bought one when the storage was cheaper than an equivalent flash card, it's a pretty good device (player/recorder), and magneto optical media is really neato but yeah...
not in my definition... i think design implies that God made everything deliberately. the grandparent's wording was a bit ambiguous and could allow for either interpretation.
certain matrox cards can do this... i have one in my server, but the extra memory slot is still open as i will never push the potential of that card running a console framebuffer
you might want to look at ECHELON if you haven't already...
The Cryptography Forum is new and needs help!
you can link it here. it's another low-volume site, but you might get some hits.
why bankrupt the ISP? they're not the problem here, this is a law they must follow.
although it is fun to think about...

are you certain you don't mean Wizard of Oz?
i somehow doubt there was a tin-can robot in Alice in Wonderland, although i may be wrong
...at point blank with a shotgun.

i was trying to say that hacking and math have thinking styles that overlap, and that math has numerous applications in computer programming.

Apple free since 1990!

i'm improving my ability to rewrite a post as i read it.
and yes, that is exceptionally annoying.

even though i don't read e-books, that 0wns :)
let's hear it for open source devs
you can view all the data that your card sends down the line... i doubt that sort of thing exists.
for me the price only includes hardware... i run linux.
"...there is no dell on the market that can compete with the top of the line MAC."
now back it up... preferably with links
nah, he's talking about the people who aren't mac fanatics ;)

i found out about one of my favourite groups on kazaa, and i like that genre in general now.

you could assemble your own dual opteron box, that would be one fast machine...
