  1. I can't explain it because you wouldn't understand. You aren't a producer, but a consumer. Some people are just curious and want to create things and find them useful. Some people just like the intellectual exercise. Or maybe they think it will be useful for running legacy software. By the way, I guarantee your systems do depend on open source somewhere. You just don't know where because you don't know how they really work. Just are just flipping knobs and consuming information.

    Unfortunately true. However the alternative is closed source software. With open source software you can create your own "internet of things" and ignore the tech companies.

    I love it when people criticize others for doing stuff that doesn't affect them at all. Especially IT janitors who don't realize that their entire job depends on Open Source software working properly. No one cares about "servers where you work".

    Of course. The hyperloop is an idiotic idea that goes back over 200 years. There is a reason it doesn't work. The idea of maintaining any kind of vacuum of any sort in such a system is preposterous.

    So the larger the sample size, the slower the average download speed. Conclusion: my Windows Phone has the fastest download speed.

    I agree. It will make much more sense building factories in space, rather here on Earth. It is much better to build interstellar spacecraft in space factories. However I don't agree with your other conclusions. Interstellar travel will be a solved problem.

    By that time human beings will be spread out among the Universe and will have developed into many different species. SpaceX is just the start of that.

    Yes it definitely does. You wouldn't want to be stuck on this rock in a gravity well when the end comes do you? They only way out is by exploring the stars. SpaceX is at the forefront of that. Millenia from now people will realize that SpaceX started the mass migration from Earth to the rest of the galaxy.

    Usually the opposite. If people had to fork over $1000 in physical cash for an iPhone they wouldn't do it.
