  1. What about HOST FILES? Would they help with this?

  2. This is a very good idea. I can't see any potential issues with adopting this. I did notice ads show up too slowly on my phone sometimes. Hopefully this will solve that problem.

Yes, unlike human brains. When are you going to learn that neural nets and "deep learning" systems are nothing like human brains? It should be obvious by now. Neural nets are nothing new.

  4. Studies on What Airbnb Did To New York City (citylab.com) · · Score: 3, Interesting

The problem with these types of studies is you will never know if they are correct or not, because there is no way to see what would have happened if Airbnb never came to NYC. Maybe it would have gentrified faster without Airbnb. NYC was gentrifying way before Airbnb came to the city. Of course, speculation is now presented as fact. That will make the funders of this study (the hotel industry) happy though, and that is what this is all about anyway. They can now push to get Airbnb out of NYC.

Yeah, you are right. Hard coded backdoors in enterprise software isn't a problem. I am just being pedantic and need to relax!

You are right. Allowing unknown users into your enterprise network via a hardcoded backdoor isn't that bad. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Yeah, good point. It isn't bad that an enterprise networking company left a hardcoded password in their products in 2018. Thanks for the reality check.

  9. No they don't. Being poor doesn't mean you are stupid. Plenty of people with money are stupid. You are stupid if you pay per month. No offense. You would be better off paying interest on a credit card than pay per month.

No it isn't. Amazon Prime is $99 a year. Only an idiot would pay per month...no offense.

  11. Amazon Prime is $99 per year. No one pays per month (if they are smart).

  12. $6x12 = $72. That saves me $27 a year. You are spending those billions in tax savings wisely! See THIS is what trickle down economics looks like! It trickled all over me.

That problem can be solved easily by hanging the TV in a window with a solar collector in front of it. When it becomes invisible the solar collector will generate electricity.

  21. Marketing on Time To Bring Back the Software User Conference (zdnet.com) · · Score: 2

That is because these conferences are run by marketing and sales. The marketing people are using it as a platform to show how useful they are to a company, and the sales people are using it to generate leads. What you want is a technical conference, but tech corporations are rolling in money so aren't very interested in technical things at this point.

  22. Why do you need to do that often? Chances are if you need the ip address, you are sophisticated enough to use the terminal to type a one line command. Aside from that, I am sure there is some panel somewhere that will give you the IP address. I don't think people choose WIndows 10 because of the need to obtain an IP address graphically.

  23. Wow! You can't graphically ask for a current IP address? That sounds terrible.

  24. People are clueless. They don't get it: unless you have the applications source code you have NO IDEA what the software is doing. It could be sending your credit card number to hackers. It could be sending your photos to the FBI. It could be doing nothing at all. Stop using closed source software and you won't have these issues.

  25. This is total BS. They are not doing this. Autonomous driving is not at this level yet. Complete garbage.
